1995 hzj75
Last time I installed new wheel bearings I also changed the top and lower swivel hub bearings but did not change the shim..
And I did NOT test the swivel "turning" preload
So now after 10.000km I wanted to check and it was way too loose.. only about 1.5kg resistance.

I just pulled the front differential on my 1995 hzj75 as I have a leaking seal.
But now I see these little flakes on some of the edges of the ring gear and pinion gear....
There is also some very fine metal shavings stuck on some parts and there were fine metal dust on drain plug magnet...
I just pulled the axle as I need to change the diff seal.
I can feel a slight difference in resistance when moving the swivel hub from center position. Definitely feels like a worn bearing. But I did full swivel hub rebuild only 10.000km ago.
I did however not set a high enough bearing preload...

I am designing some toolboxes to mount under the tray in front of the rear wheel.
Something like the attached picture... Does anyone here have something like this and can help with a few questions.
1. What aluminium alloy did you/the builder use?
2. What thickness material did you use...
So I have changed the flasher lightbulbs to led and had to insert resisters to make them flash slowly enough.
But is possible to get a timed relay so I don't have to have those resisters installed? I had this om my motorcycle as it was just a simple relay amd easy to change.
