Say What? Failed Texas inspection due to power steering leak

Texas state inspection does not have a place on the inspection list to fail for leaking PS fluid. So he would of had to fail you for something else per the machine to say “Fail” on the print out that comes from the inspection machine itself. So I’d look at that sheet and see what it says...

    Who daily drives your fzj80?

I do about 200 miles a week on my 80, it would be more, but I don't have a commute to or from work, and I have a work truck. I also wheel it each chance I get. 267k and going strong with a little oil consumption between changes

" high speed " desert in an 80 series

Well I did a little measuring and found I can safely go up another 2" in ride height with current tires. So I guess that gives me a few additional options now too.

" high speed " desert in an 80 series

I know what you meant by tuning and revolving the shocks, I am there with you. What 12" bolt in shock are you using? I prefer King... How many coil over rates? A whole lot more than 9! I can pretty much order whatever I think I may need, then if it isn't right exchange the springs back out...

" high speed " desert in an 80 series

80 Series King 2.5s Front and Rear Resi Shock Kit, 3-5" lift If it is this easy, bolt in and make a few adjustments, then I'm in. No question. Just feel like the 10" of travel will hinder speed to, not sure to what extent tho. I know I'm not going the way most do with their 80's and that buying...

" high speed " desert in an 80 series

You say better tuning, however there are not a lot of coil springs to choose from, sure I could run some bypasses but with what springs? Then we get back into the travel that is available, about 10 inches total with a 2-3" lift, I don't feel like that is really enough travel. And with the...

" high speed " desert in an 80 series

It has been crazy! And I have been very busy, but I have been trying to stay posted up on this. Good news too! After talking to a few racing friends, this thread and throwing a few different ideas around with people.. It has been deemed my budget is weak and needed to be doubled or...

" high speed " desert in an 80 series

I would probably be more willing to spend my money on the Kings and up my budget than running the Fox or Icon stuff. We have all King suspension on the car also. Still wanting to know some actual part numbers and or what others have used and done.

" high speed " desert in an 80 series

So much like the title says is what I am looking for. I have searched and found very little. I want to be able to travel at 45-50 mph across the desert in my 80. More specifically, I NEED to be able to travel 45-50 mph in my 80 at king of the hammers on the desert loop sections. I am the crew...

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

It is a trail gear bumper, the sliders are OPOR ( Outpost Offroad ) from metal tech 4x4.

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

I don't have a tape handy, but I did take a few pics. I ended up putting the 12,000 lb HF winch on there, dropped in place without touching anything.

    AC Drier Relocation fail

Pretty my here where I'm at, I may try and move it a bit, but don't want to try and bend brittle aluminum hard lines.

    AC Drier Relocation fail

I painted the whole front area of the truck gloss black when I pulled the factory bumper, oil coolers, Ac dryer, bottom most section of condenser etc. I thought it looked cleaner. On a side note, I did hit the factory bumper on a rock just in front of the dryer... Still a little leery of its...

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

I installed the trail gear front bumper. Hit it with some rust oleum hammered black, I'll either drop my 8274 warn on there (mods needed) or one of the other bottom mounts I decide on later. My only concern is the Ac dryer at the moment.
