You should find a temporary place for a couple of months, just to scout out places your interested in. Traffic is pretty bad in So Cal. And it depends on what you can afford, things can be pretty steep down there. I had a 20 mile commute that would take over an hour on a regular day so it...
What about labor ?
Just curious, I had a V8 and the same tranny put in my FJ60 and was wondering how much other people spent doing it. I had a small block Chevy, 5.7 that was new, smoged for the peoples republic of CA and it ran 17K. It does run really nice though.
I have American Racing Teflon Wheels
Not that model though. I have 16 x 10's with Goodyear MTR's 315 75R 16s. I have SOA and have half inch spacers on the front. Never had ant problem with them and they clean up easy.
I like Osprey
I have a Atmos 50, which is 3000 cubic inches. I used it on a weekend trip to Mt Whitney last year. Carried a tent, bag, bear canister. All the brands you listed are nice, you should decide on how big a bag you need and go and try a few on at REI, they'll help you out with how...
Broken birfield
Yeah, that was me at SNT, taking out what I thought was a broken Birfield. What it turned out to be was a broken 3rd member. I bought a used newly rebuilt 3rd member and every thing is fine now.
Rack
The rack has an expanded metal floor. The truck is SOA with high steer. Some basic stuff - it has a Chevy 350 TBI, 5 speed. It has been to BAR and is CA smog legal. Front bumper is a ARB rear bumper is custom. I'll post some pictures of it later. This picture was at SNT this year.
Bought this rack used for 250$ from a guy out in Oakland. Decent shape, a little surface rust but a little rattle can paint and it looks new. It's all one piece and I was surprised how heavy it is to pick up.
I received a Hella Super Horn for X-mas, the instructions are not very clear and was wondering if anyone here has installed one in their cruiser. It came with two horns and a relay, but no wire. I would like to replace the stock horn with the new. So I'm thinking I could use the existing wiring...
How hard is it to take off/put back the steering box. Does the pitman arm need to be replaced also ? I need to have mine redone and would do it myself if I can. I'm not a mechanic but not totally helpless. Are there any special tools needed ?
Thanks
This was me. Pulled the birfield out and it wasn't broken. It started at station one while we were in line. I did not have the front locked, was in high 4. Should have aired down before starting the run, but the noise stopped there, I drove to 2nd station and it started again, then gave up and...
I like it, I have a red FJ60 also, and I was thinking to do a scheme kind of like the two tone FJ55's, bring the white down to the bend line on the doors, all the way around.
