@BenjaminCA and Rachael were especially good today on the pod. I'd listen to those two read the phonebook. I love hearing from all these cruiserheads. I'd especially like when we get to hear a little more about who these people are, what they do for a living and why Cruisers are such a great...
You made the right choice. I'm almost done with my build and the Aqualu 3/4 tub made the build really easy. If you do a hard top, you might fight the sides a little bit but with some creative trimming, you'll be there.
@DaveyB Man, we are in the same exact boat. I got mine as close as possible before I just sent it off to paint. This weekend I'm assembling the whole hard top on the cruiser and drilling the new holes. It's not a good sign that I have secured a porta power to help "persuade" things.
Hey Davey, I'm going through this issue right now on my '76 build. I had to cut down the post that drops into the tub so its barely there. I couldn't bring myself to cut it off completely. That said, the curve at the back of the tub is keeping mine from sitting flush at the door post (Aqualu tub...
I love seeing all of these replies. We built a new house in 2017. The garage was planned with a dedicated "Land Cruiser area". It's been really nice to have it while I'm restoring the 76. Now I'm eyeing a spot in the backyard for an additional 30' x 30' garage. That will probably be a few...
Just a quick check in. My weekly updates are on my Instagram but I wanted to update this group on the project so the project isn't seen as dead.
I've got the entire body off and I've sanded down most of the frame (not quite to steel but close). The rear frame channel came off (all 20 rivets)...
Quick update... The Aqualu tub is here. I've stripped the entire wiring harness our of the truck and laid it out. I'm planning to trim it down to the bare essentials. Right now the harness still carries all the emissions leads for the old 2F motor even though we have a GM small block. In...
Hey guys, just checking in. With all the Covid19 closures I've had more time to work on the cruiser. The body is now cut off the frame and one the side of my house. The rails of the body are all in good shape. Meaning, the sill in the back and all the joints to the hard top and doors. It...
Yeah, we looked at this one. Need a full 3/4 tub so it was down to CCOT or Aqualu. We are going for longevity so the aluminum makes sense. We have a V8 so this thing is already modified pretty heavily so swapping the tub won't upset the purists.
One more question I'm hoping to get an answer to from you guys. We are certain the Aqualu tub is the next step. But first I'm going to cut this thing off and I want to do it in such a way that preserves what is left so that I can either rebuild the tub or sell it. It would take some love to...
Here's a wrap up of the work we've done over the past week or so. Pulled all the seats, roll bar, gas tank, hood, windshield etc... Then pulled the transmission tunnel.
Hey guys, just a quick update. I have a little more time on my hands now that Covid is raging. I dove in and started stripping the cruiser down. Take a look at the rust under these diamond plate panels. It was clear the P/O just covered up some bondo and rust. More to come...

Here are a few pictures from the day we got it. My little Bro pictured here with me was about 12 years old at this point. We were both surprised when Mom and Dad brought it home. We had gone to look at it 3 times already and I was certain that my Dad wasn't going to swing it...
