A good upholstery shop should be able to do it, I took my door cards on to a custom upholstery guy and he replaced the top vinyl fabric with a near exact match in color and texture. Only reason the color wasn’t perfect match was likely due to fading over the years.
This thread explains wiring the Eaton elockers and harness using the OEM switch and getting dash lights to function when bulbs have been installed. I am using the provided Eaton switches and want to wire in the dash locker lights. I have the bulbs installed awhile ago when R&R the dash lights...
I bought my Eatons in 2020 and 2021 for $990 each at the time. Rear first then decided to go 3x and did the front. I pulled the thirds and sent to Zuk in Az. He did a full rebuild of the third (all new bearings) with locker for something around $500-600. All in around 3k for both but I don’t...
My experience is that if you have some driveline loading then it seems to remain locked in forward/backward shifting situations. Also, I haven’t felt, noticed or observed an unlocked state while testing this on flat loose gravel parking lot doing figure 8’s. But here again, the figure 8’s tend...
I have been running the Eatons for a bit over two years, installed by Zuk. I have never yet experienced any unlocking with forward/reverse changes and in fact make efforts to create such a condition. So far it simply remains locked.
I and planned on using the OE switch until I saw the Eaton switch and went that route. Bonus, can individually select front or rear locker and obviously both.
I bought the Mr. T OEM last March during the big sale from one of the Georgia Toyota dealerships, it was $306 to my door. Essentially nearly 1/2 off list. No way Toyota OEM is $200.
That’s just it, there is speculation as to what might occur (base in part on theoretical evidence) but there needs to be more input from real world applications. From my simple observations, I have confidence that this unlocked situation will be a non issue. But can’t really say until better tested.
So, in the spirit of science (I use that loosely) I went out this morning to attempt to get stuck in 4Lo open diffs to test the lock/unlock condition of my front and rear Eatons. My location offered few challenges for the open diffs, but with some effort I was finally able to get crossed into...
I’m sure it’s an unlikely chance, but in my mind it wouldn’t take too much moisture to freeze in a 3mm ID tube. But realistically, there probably isn’t much relative humidity in sub freezing conditions anyway.
My take away thus far from the info and opinions given is that, provided the selectable locker of choice is set up correctly as advertised, the ARB and TJM would be the most “solidly locked” experience. With that said, I have front and rear Eaton e-lockers and have had nothing but a great...
My radiator finally shipped and is due to arrive today. After several emails, they needed to figure out better packaging to avoid shipping damage. Will know how that works out this afternoon.
