the fuel cut ( idle solonoid ) wires are not to be found on my truck, i have found a couple of cut wires down below the master cylindar , cxan someone please confirm the color of these wires , they, they should be the only two connecting to the carburatur.

I've been going thru the engine compartment in an effort to track down a miss at idle speed, the engine repair FSM ,page 8-7 step three , specs. the ignition coil resistance at 0.5 -0.7 ohms , the results i came up with were 0.9 -1.0 ohms .

CO was .32 @ 775 rpm and .68 @ 2550 rpm pretty good numbers to me .
Anyway, the carb. was rebuilt before smog at this time last year and the fuel level is nrite in the center of the window- I realize that this doesn't mean everything is fine inside.

OKAY! Just got home from the smog retest and ...........Yes passed with an HC level of 210 ppm ( limit is 220 ppm ). Just skinned by, I did back the mixture screw out as sudjested by rchalmers3 , - thanks for the handy advice.

Let me give that a shot, I was playing around with the timing earlier today, strangely enough the truck runs much smoother with the distributer turned to about 12 degrees before TDC, I know that advancing rather than retarding and won't help my current situation but the old 2f sure ran smooth...

I was really pleased with the dash cover I got from Spectere, it fit reaaly well and wasn't hard to install, needed just a little trimming ( very minimal and easy ). Think the price was around $100.
I was origanaly thinking that the EGR valve itself is leaking at idle - as it definatly causes the engine to run poorly around the 2500 rpm and higher , I've done a complete check of all the hoses for correct conection and checked the ABV system and there also doesn't seem to be any intake leaks...
Okay went for emissions testing today,
No , the truck did not pass, it came really close, the results were as fallows;
HC @ 2500 rpm = 45 limit is 220 no problem
HC @ 775 rpm = 463 limit is 220 a problem
CO @ 2500 rpm = 0.66 limit is 1.20 no problem
CO @ 775 rpm = 0.12 limit...
