Well, like everything today, the cost has gone up. For the first time my panel supplier asked if I would like a quote first, uh oh.
Yep, the cost to me has gone up almost 70% since my last order!
I currently will have to charge $630 for a pair of rockers, which seems utterly ridiculous to me...
This is the best pic I could find. It's of the 45, which is a 55 frame and about 1.5" wider than a 40.
The tower usually needs to be moved towards the rear so the box will clear the radiator. A 1/4" plate is welded to the outside of the frame, to strengthen and too give additional clearance...
Moving along at a good pace.
The floors and fire wall are patched up, the underside is sealed and painted
The dreaded cracked manifold has been replaced and it now has a full exhaust
After five days the gate is reskinned and solid again
The rear sill and body mounts have also...
So the "Super Slipper, by Beard" has been removed and upgraded to a gripper clutch. Now it'll be easier to move around
Yikes.
Started cleaning the fuel system too. Very happy to find the sending unit in working order, the inside of the tank is surprisingly rust free and the rear floor...
Well, a bitter sweet thing has happened. The 45 is gone. On to the new owner, who reports that it is working great!
But that just opens up room for the next gem. A Piggy!
So rotten that the B pillars were flapping in the breeze
Thanks to @remy1974 for parting with this one...
Which MC are you using? If I remember correctly the early 40s used a 15/16" bore, it may be it's not moving enough volume for eight wheel cylinders?
Going to the floor, without any bubbles during bleeding leads me to believe the MC is either insufficient or faulty.
If one of your bleeders is weeping fluid it is sucking in air as well, it will never bleed. Also, just because the master is new does not mean it's good, I've had two brand new ones that were bad out of the box in the last year. One had a ripped seal and the other was assembled wrong. Both bench...
Wow Curtice, you've been busy! It's looking great!
From the pics it looks like the bottom of the DS of the top needs to move in board on the rail. Maybe oval some of the bolt holes and ratch strap it over to see if closes the gap on the hatch? Hard to see for sure in the pics but it looks like...
A cheap harbor freight press is your friend here. Really, I've done a few of these and hammering them together is difficult, as you are experiencing with the thrust washer. Get a good dollop of grease behind the thrust washer and press it onto the pin and first gear, that may hold it in place...
