I tend to agree here, that's sound advice... There's not too much stress on the front buckets, and the force of the spring will keep them in place. I would take my time and make sure the fit up is super clean and close before welding them.
If you're not an experienced welder, follow the...
Do any have an electrical diagram for the truck?
I need to chase down some wiring issues... My High beam indicator and my reverse lights are not working and I see evidence that someone once tried to fix them.
Any help will be much appreciated.
Good morning everyone....
I'm back at it with the project, trying to knock out some small things before I disassemble it to redo the paint.
One of the pressing issues was the suspension.
The truck had a very poorly made suspension lift... Basically someone welded extension of the shocks, made...
Hello everyone;
I recently sold my LJ79 and was in the hunt for either a 105 or an 80 series. Here in Nicaragua the 1hz is definitely the more common available engine in the 80's. However this '97 HDJ80 popped up and I decided to go for it. It has the factory rear AC and center console cooler...
Good advice...
It's the sad fact of autobody work on this side of the world, generally silicone and bondo rule as king. I once looked at a vehicle for a friend that had been in an accident previously. It had so much body filler on the hood that the prop rod was bending under the weight.
Thanks...
Hey everyone, over her from the 70's forum and I want your suggestions and ideas for my next project. I live and Nicaragua and would like to pick up another Cruiser with the goal of restoring and exporting it to the US. Once in a while a HJ60 or 62 will pop up that's in ok shape. For the most...
So after sanding them down and massaging out dips in the metal, I cut out a new base and welded them up. This is how the came out:
Probably not the prettiest thing, but definitely functional.
Got some paint on them and mounted them up.
Now after going through that and connecting them up I...
I've been slowly changing all the bulbs in the dash and the exterior to white led. Somehow the bulbs and sockets over the rear license plate completely rotted out. This would be the next project on the to-do list.
The metal was so thin that even welding a little bit would be nearly...
Thanks!
Nicaragua can be very cool, but at the same time very frustrating. The life is very simple and stress free, one of the big things that keeps us here.
Probably a good idea to pull the interior out and at least give it a good cleaning.
Anyways if you take your time and don't rush, you'll learn along the way with minimal mistakes.
One thing I noticed when I pulled the interior was the under carpet insulation was in bad shape. Changing that out...
Since I changed the tire size I knew something had to be done with the spare tire carrier. It wouldn't accommodate a 12.5" wide tire. I thought about making a new bumper/tire carrier, but I don't want to change too much the originality of the truck. Anyways the rear bumper in my opinion looks...
So as many with older cruisers know, rust is inevitable. I knew when I bought the truck that I would have to do some metal repair. Fortunately it wasn't as bad as some of the trucks that I've seen. Under the factory fender flare it was fine as well as the body mounts. It was pretty much limited...
