If you're ordering 37140-60340, you shouldn't have any fitment issues. That should be the correct part number for your driveline with the 1FZ-FE and auto box. I have my front driveshaft out of my 80 and it measures to right about 800mm, but the lengths will vary depending on how compressed the...
I just read through this whole thread, what an epic build! The photography and surf stuff are awesome too. My brothers and I try to get up to the Avon/Buxton/Hatteras area whenever there's a decent swell window to surf. That whole area is a special place. I'll have to check out Ocracoke next...
Hey y’all,
I’m planning on rebuilding the engine out of my 1994 80 Series. Is there anyone local to the HHI/Beaufort area with an unused engine crane and engine stand that they’d be willing to rent for a couple months? Preferably a 2-ton picker, as I am planning to pull the 1FZ-FE, A442, and...
Figured I'd throw both of my sample reports up for feedback. I originally sent a sample in to see if I had any metal wear from a likely wrist-pin tick, but now I'm focusing on coolant levels. I haven't noticed any visual coolant in the oil or experienced any major white smoke from the exhaust at...
I may be interested in this part, going through the EGR and vacuum system on my 1994 with a CEL 71. If it's still available, could I PM you shipping details?
Something to note if the oil level light comes on after cleaning the sensor/contacts and replacing the o-ring: it's possible that the actual sensor has failed and is providing a "false positive" reading. This means the light will come on and incorrectly report that your engine oil is low, even...
I bought my 1994 with a CEL 71 and have been driving it for a couple years without any major issues.
You can test the EGR valve assembly with the steps outlined in the factory service manual to see if the actual valve is your issue, but as far as I know, clearing that code means throwing a lot...
Thanks for the input everyone. I'll order those OEM connectors/pigtails and try and get this sensor dialed up. My biggest concern is trying to figure out where to splice into the wiring harness.
I am currently replacing my PHH and heater control valve, and figured I would look into my No. 2 knock sensor (CEL 55) while I'm working in that area. I've had the cruiser for a little over a year, code 55 was present when I bought the truck. I haven't looked into it until now because I was not...
That's frustrating. Does it feel like you're hitting a flat spot between certain speeds? Does it go away after the engine is warmed up? Any noises or vibrations coming from the driveline? When was the last time you did a tune up with new spark plugs, wires, etc.? Maybe also try checking...
Yes, CEL 14 is an Ignition System code. Your ECM wouldn't have been getting a signal from your IGF. I would try checking your igniter, ignition coil circuit, and distributor, see if you can find any issues.
If you search for a diagnostic code, you should get a some results that have the CEL diagnostic troubleshoot table. Or if you have the FSM, that table and ECS diagrams will be in there. Here's a helpful diagram from my '94 FSM.
Went wheeling for the first time with the offroad club at my university. Even with 33s and stock suspension, the 80 handled everything I could throw at it, and I only had to put it in 4Low once. It's pretty fun learning how capable these trucks are and watching everyone run their rigs.
Ebay is probably going to be your best bet for a hardcopy version. I've also heard to avoid using the Haynes or Chilton manuals, so go for the OEM Toyota manuals. There are two books/volumes with about 1300 pages total. You could also try to find and download PDFs online but I prefer paper...
