Maybe I will try them again. It gets hotter than the gates of hell here, with humidity to boot, so if we can get it to work it might be best. Thanks for the input.
Seeking opinions on this....my 76 TLC has Vintage Air installed by the previous owner back in 2012. It's a clean job, and records appear to indicate it was done by a shop and not under a tree somewhere. I have never been a big AC guy, but my missus kind of wanted it so we bought this truck with...
They will be replacing the stock Toyota harness / fuses and everything will be set up around the chevy drivetrain. The guy I bought the truck from did everything top notch on this truck but stopped short with the wiring and dash. Under the hood is all modern chevy, etc. but then under the dash...
I totally hear ya, if it were an old untouched gem, no way would I modify like this. But the idea this truck is lightly modified left the barn many years ago! It's a total restomod for lack of better term.
Question...the guys at the shop where we have taken the LC for the rewire will be making up a new wiring harness for the truck. I am thinking about ordering the Dakota dash in the next day or so. I noticed you referencing "coolerman" for a plug to "tap" into everything needed. Is this because...
The VHX runs $800 vs $1300 for the HDX. All the $500 extra gives you are bells and whistles I'll never use.......bluetooth ability to change the color/lighting, etc......really?? I'd never use it. Comparing the two I just can't justify the additional money. No charge for the tach either. Might...
Cool....I am going to see if they can still do the 5k tach. That is so much more practical for the LC I think. Thanks for all of your insight with this!
That's the ashtray to the right, and it is pretty darn symmetrical with those two gauges. I hat to cut into the dash any more. That ashtray works great for keys, etc. !
That's a good idea. No drilling either. I think they have some sticky adhesive that can be removed without destroying anything. Might be the ticket for one of those holes.
Man that looks great. No doubt. One problem I face is what to do with the two holes left by the existing water and tach the previous owner decided to install (I take no responsibility for that move!!). If I go with the Dakota, I could put a digital clock in one hole...maybe an aluminum plug in...
Would love to hear opinions on this....I love our 76 FJ Restomod except that the previous owner left all of the old wiring and fuses under the dash while adding newer wiring and fuses for fuel injection, ac, etc. There are wires to nowhere under there.... I think I am going to have the truck...
I think that in the end, you are right. Just get the new cylinder assembly. They are't too expensive at all, and boom, you have two keys right off the bat. Thanks.
