    2014 4 Runner Ground Clearance - ?

From a '00 sales brochure. I paid the $ 5.00 and saved a copy earlier, but at any rate - see this link, go below the color galleries, and View the '00 brochure, and the 4th page from the right is the spec pages. For grins, I just checked the '98 brochure - same info. It may well be a...

    2014 4 Runner Ground Clearance - ?

Now I am really confused ! I measured last night with a small ( 16 oz ? ) water bottle and a tape measure. The lowest point that I could easily ( lazily ) find was the drain plug on the rear axle, so I used that as the low point. I got a measurement of 9.6 , more or less. This is with the...

    2014 4Runner Trail

    2014 4 Runner Ground Clearance - ?

All ( relative term ) these post on the '14 Runners has me wondering - they show the ground clearance as 9.6", and the 3rd Gens w/ the larger tire size have 11" - stock height. Does the new Runner have bigger diffs, or a lower transfer case, or ????????? Seems weird that it would have...

    2014 4Runner Trail

Drove one ( briefly ) at the Houston auto show. Handles great, and the 4.0(?) V-6 has waaaaaaaaaaaay more power than my 3.4. Brakes rock, too. :steer: Diff lock is a push button in front of the mirror , and the styling of the front end is not exactly my cup of tea. The Limited is...

    rear axle still leaking

I am not familiar w/ that setup - I wonder if it is anything like a 4 Runner. If so, this link may help. If not, this is a free bump. Good Luck ! Britt

Who's doing what projects ? ( Mods, repairs, etc. )

Did the breather mod this past Saturday. For something so simple, it was a PITA - being underneath, bent up, fighting w/ the hose, etc. etc. I still do not have the end up by the filler cap tie strapped down - look at this link, 3rd pic and you can see a rubber boot around the fuel filler...

Who's doing what projects ? ( Mods, repairs, etc. )

I just ordered some parts to do some stuff - a brake booster valve to fix an occasional hard pedal, as shown here , and the union fitting & breather to do the breather mod. Thanks to Travis at Ralph Hayes Toyota for the assist, BTW ! ( Mud Forum vendor ) At any rate, that's my...

My turn in the barrel for power window fun ! Question, though.

Last night, the driver's rear window rolled down, but would not go back up. After a little switch jiggling and glass manhandling I got the window back up. Being stubborn as I am;p, I had to research the issue and see if I could figure out what needed to be done, and hopefully do it. After...

'93 fzj80 dies and hard to restart

Well, so far, so good - I think it is fixed. After fiddling, and reading & clearing codes, the main culprit seemed to be ID'd as the Code 26. A little searching gave me a thread where someone had a similar issue, and resolved it by cleaning the O2 sensor connectors. I wound up taking...

'93 fzj80 dies and hard to restart

Can you show how you bypassed that ? I have a ' 94 w/ 200K plus a bit and just had this crop up after a road trip of 130 miles. This being the bumpy idle , but fine at all other speeds AFAIK. Playing around last night I got 2 codes if I read them correctly : 12 26 (...

    PHH - kit or bypass?

Well, I was going to do it the "hard way" for personal achievement, and ... I broke the rear knock sensor.:mad: Thanks to a fellow mudder, I picked one up used for $ 50.00. Be careful either way, but the bypass route probably would have not caused me to be in there enough to break...

Charcoal Cannister Question - '94 model.

I still have the on again, off again code 71 - I have pretty much learned to live with it. :D While examining the cannister I noticed that the hose leading off the bottom fitting goes to nowhere , best I can tell - it just ends below the brake power booster. Is it supposed to attach to...

Number 2 knock sensor part number

Back from the dead ! ( search worked ) I see C-Dan has listed P/N 89615-30050 as the magic one. Has that P/N been changed over the years ? My old one was engraved with a 03745 , and a replacement that I stumbled across has a number of 02044. I tried the epoxy as well - glued the...

Wanted WTB knock sensor for fzj80

Couple of Questions ! Good Evening ! Do you still have 1 ? I did the same thing - the rear while doing the PHH - did not even know it was there ! :frown: Are the front and rear the same ? And, how do you get that gawdang connector off ????? Any help is appreciated - thanks ...

    acceleration issues

Could a dirty MAF sensor cause that ? Might be worth spraying some electrical cleaner on the MAF sensor wires - they can cause weird issues when dirty. On my Camaro, the throttle response is vastly improved :) after a cleaning. This , of course, is merely a WAG :hillbilly: - perhaps more...

Another clue in the "sticky speedo syndrome" mystery, perhaps ?

For those of you that don't follow what I mean, that is the tendency of the speedo to not work until it "warms up" through some driving. The odometer and trip meter function fine even if the speedo needle won't move. This morning, when I hit the O/D button off while braking ( anyone else...

Real Time Help! Quick question about distributor O ring

I have done exactly one of these ! But, I do not believe that O-ring is supposed to be visible outside like that. ;) Try some grease or vaseline on the o-ring to keep it in it's groove. HTH's !! :) Britt

    PHH bi-pass

Don't know about any failures, but ... At the Houston Cruisers Club tech session I was at the guy leading the charge would not do anything but a PHH ectotomy ! :D He used a silicone hose w/ a regular over it as a wear preventer in lieu of the bottom portion of the metal pipe , and secured...
