  1. 94 delayed cranking. Starter, ignition switch, or other?

I may have overlooked it in the link you provided. In this picture the factory connector is the one on the right, the one they are looking for is the one on the left. You can avoid cutting the factory wire by purchasing one of each of these. The new one (on the right) goes into the starter...
  2. 94 delayed cranking. Starter, ignition switch, or other?

jht3, that is the OEM plug into the starter. The odd part in the link from the post on 3/23/22, is an inline version of the connector on the starter that you can use to carry the factory wiring up to the relay without cutting the factory line.
  3. 94 delayed cranking. Starter, ignition switch, or other?

Shoot, sorry I just sold the FJ80 last month and sent the last connector off with it. I'll see if there is a way I can edit my post to reflect that. Not sure where to find that item now unfortunately
  4. Sony after-market head unit dead after battery dies due to cold

Does anyone know which fuse powers the radio on the fzj80? I got into day and it was all of a sudden not working. If I need to remove the dash panels to pull the radio to check the fuse on the back of the radio, does anyone have a recommended walk through on removing the dash pieces to pull...
  5. 94 delayed cranking. Starter, ignition switch, or other?

No too much to add here, but wanted to thank you all for the information as the issue seems to be resolved. Did want to share an added resource I found: a Male connector you can plug into the existing factory starter solenoid wiring without cutting the original wiring...
  6. Repairing the Room Lamp Control Module aka Ignition Key Cylinder Light Relay

Great, I'm going to pull that to solve the problem and maybe revisit it for a proper solution later. Thanks!
  7. Repairing the Room Lamp Control Module aka Ignition Key Cylinder Light Relay

This thread has been very helpful. I've been having a mystery battery drain in a matter of days and looked in last night and saw the key ring light on. I am not concerned with the key light working, at least not at this time. Does anyone know, can I remove the "room lamp control" circuit...
  8. 1994 High Oil Consumption

Update: Valve Cover gasket is replaced, driven it almost 150 miles and haven't seen the level on the dip stick change, I'm feeling optimistic with fingers crossed! Will update when there's more miles. Had put 20w50 in to manage the high oil loss, but am thinking that I should put a thinner oil...
  9. 1994 High Oil Consumption

Found that oil is leaking out of the back side of the valve cover gasket. Right before I got the vehicle the gasket was serviced at a shop, after hearing from you I decided to clean up the area around the gasket, drove it for a while and then found that fresh oil was leaking out. This may have...
  10. 1994 High Oil Consumption

Thank you all for the feedback, I've been going back and forth with mechanics and should have been checking this thread more. The valve cover gasket and spark plug & tube seals were replaced right before I got the vehicle, according to my father/prior owner there was no prior noticeable oil...
  11. 1994 High Oil Consumption

I have a new to me FZJ80 that is burning about 1Qt per 150 miles. I've read related threads and haven't seen anyone with anything near this rate. There are only a few drops of oil leaking every couple of weeks when it's left parked and I cannot see any leaking while it's running. No blue...
  12. 1994 Code 71 EGR Engine Stalls at a Stop

Thank you both for the feedback. I will look into both of these. Is it likely to be able to see cracks in the plenum gasket without removing the the upper intake manifold?
  13. 1994 Code 71 EGR Engine Stalls at a Stop

I have a 1994 FJ80 with 212K miles, that's had a 71 code for a little while. The vehicle is new to me, but I know that the valve control solenoid was recently replaced, along with the hoses that attach to it, it doesn't look like any other EGR system parts have been replaced. Replacing EGR...
