Got the factory flares fitted & painted body colour (not my handiwork unfortunately) to replace the Kutsnake ones.. I'm glad I done it now, looks much better to my eyes,
You would be looking at the following:
Rear axle housing, possibly brake backing plates if these are different to non ABS
Front steering knuckles
ABS pump
Wiring harness, which I guess will be a complete vehicle replacement
Wheel speed/ABS sensors
Tone rings for these sensors - is it possible...
I don't think so, my 79 doesn't have ABS. I guess retro fitting a factory ABS system would mean a massive amount of work bearing in mind the non-ABS truck hubs and rear axle wont have any facility to insert sensors etc, plus the wiring looms, ECU, pump, brake lines and dash warning lights.
Installed an electronic transmission park brake, mainly due to the factory setup no longer working very well after doing a rear coil conversion which puts the cable off to the LHS rear wheel and makes it a pain to set up
How did you determine where the rear tub needed to be cut in order to fit the factory flares? I'm going to be changing mine from Kut Snake to factory items and the bodyshop have suggested bonding them on due to not having a template for any cutting and drilling required.
Does your rear axle have mounting brackets for the bar? If not I have some weld on ones going spare. They came with my kit from Superior but I didn't need them.
Some 76's also had a rear stabilizer bar so should be possible to retrofit, although you may have to do some welding
I have a rear bar on my 79 that was supplied with my coil conversion kit, that was from Superior Engineering in Oz. Also the GXL 79's had one from the factory I believe.
