Not cheap. It was $350 AUD shipped to central Oz. But it did solve the problem. The AC switch started working after a while, so now I have a spare for everything but the hazard switch.
There should be a part number on the back if you pull yours out.
Here's a photo at the start of a 4000km camping trip. The trailer was a recent (and surprisingly inexpensive) addition, which lets us travel with two roof-tents. This makes roadside setup a breeze, and keeps us well away from bugs, snakes, and crocs. We usually ground-swag, with the swags on the...
My truck is built specifically to go camping. The running boards are very useful when you need to strap stuff to the roof. I also carry a ladder in the camping trailer, which helps with deploying/packing the two roof tents. As suggested, change all of the gear fluids for piece of mind. It's not...
Try some (Dexron) ATF mixed 50/50 with acetone. If you just want to buy something off the shelf, Kano Kroil may be your best bet. It also smells much better than PB Blaster. I fixed mine with Marvel Mystery Oil, since I have no use for ATF...
I took her to a diesel mechanic to help diagnose the low power issue. He did a complete valve clearance job on her, with all new shims. The difference is very noticeable, and it was certainly not a job I would have wanted to do myself, since I don't have collection of shims. The new radiator...
Update with partial success. I was able to swap in the center dash unit. The hazards work, and the vent/recirc button works better. Unfortunately, the AC button no longer works. I may try to swap parts internally and update further, or order a new unit. Sigh.
Quick update. Travel restrictions have been lifted, and we've been traveling far to go camping again. The top speed issue persists. Perhaps 120 kph on a slight downhill, otherwise 110 kph. After trying the easy stuff, took it to a diesel mechanic, figuring he'd tell me I need rebuilt injectors...
Another 5 years, and another followup. I have a 1998 HZJ105R. The hazards suddenly stopped working (there may have been a ground issue, I dunno). Turn signals work. AC and recycle air switches still work. For my truck, there is no CDL button, just a plug.
For my specific application, the part...
I was able to fix my transfer case lever without removing it. It took a bit of oil, but once I was able to pull up on the lever, everything else worked. In my 1998 105 RHD manual, there is a gate that keeps the transfer case in H (H2 or H4). It still takes two hands to pull the lever up and back...
Part-time 4wd 105s certainly aren't rare in Australia. I can loose my truck in parking lots.
FWIW, my diesel, manual, 105 has a very similar (but not the same) dash. I've only ever seen the green center diff lock light come on. It is off in 2wd mode, on in 4-high, and in 4-low, with a second...
I was just planning out doing this in my truck. My 105 did not come with a third row of seats, so the only ash trays are in the rear doors (too far forward anyway). But this 3D model may help someone else (not my work, but I'll likely post things to Thingiverse if I design anything useful)...
I took the truck out for a long trip on Sunday (over 300 km). The AC worked, no overheating, but power was down. I had a top speed of ~120kph on the way out, then ~110kph on the way back in the heat of the day (The road has a speed limit of 130 kph outside of town). Fuel mileage was atrocious as...
I finally got around to getting the springs replaced. I went with TJM XGS components all around to include the front shocks, steering damper, and new front radius arms. The springs should have given me a 2 inch lift, but the old springs had sagged so much that it worked out to nearly 4 inches...
That's stock too? I had no idea. The part number checks out, PZQ23-60010. Thanks!
There's not much call for it here, as it almost never rains (except this week). But it might keep the flies out. So far the AC works, until it gets to 40 C or so.
Thanks! I paid the equivalent of about $8K USD, plus tax and delivery (by train!). Diesels are very hard to find. Usually they are run into the ground, so I feel pretty fortunate to have found one with some years and kilometers left on it.
The barrel is at the top of "Tin Can Hill", so named...
