    How fragile is the Phenolic Carb Insulator? It has red RTV silicone sticking it to the bottom of the Carb. I'm thinking a couple of taps with a flat bar would do the trick but I don't want to crack this thing.

    My 40 was made in October 75 and I believe it is mostly original parts. That should match up with what you are describing.
