Thanks....ya, I get that. I was more interested in actual numbers....but I get what you're saying and agree. This is for guys that are running decent sized tires (I'm planning 37s) and running rockcrawling trails.
***EDIT*** For some reason the software is not allowing me to edit the...
Okay....is there a way to delete or close this thread? Sorry....not sure how classifieds work on ih8mud. I amended the first post to say they are no longer for sale. Not sure if there's a way for me to close/delete it or if a mod has to.
Just got off the phone with RCV. They can't give out their Rc specs, but they are slightly softer than OEM. However, there shouldn't be any concern about running in AWD.
More importantly, these are no longer for sale. Talked to Paul at RCV and he's going to swap them for me for a set of...
Interesting....what's the Rc on the factory parts in question? What parts are we talking about exactly? I'm assuming you mean the races and ball bearings. Those are 4340 on the RCV and I would *guess* they are through hardened like the shafts, but don't know off hand. I'd *guess* (again)...
Yes....the RCV shafts have the zerk in the end of the stub shaft.....though I don't see this as a huge advantage in a closed knuckle application where the knuckle ball is full of grease in the first place.
Nitros aren't 300M for the inner shafts which is what breaks when you make the birfield out of 4340.
***EDIT*** also, it appears that Nitro retains the 24 spline CV in their design by just increasing the diameter of the shaft so that it doesn't neck down. RCV increases the diameter as well...
I should make it clear...these are not complete axles with housings, brakes, thirdmembers, gears, etc. They are upgraded alloy axle shafts for the front axle.
Sorry for any confusion.
***EDIT**** No longer for sale!!! *****
Brand new, in the box. Just bought these for my project 4Runner's front axle in the last month....but have since toyed with the idea to ditch the wheel spacers and build a custom width housing to match the rear Tundra axle width so I will need custom...
Sorry for bringing back the dead. Just reconfirming as I just measured mine....out of a '91 FZJ80....it's 63" WMF to WMF. I've heard all sorts of numbers searching Pirate. Wish it were wider.....may sell this now and build another front 60 instead. :(
I know there's a clean up but I have a few friends in from Israel who would like to see some American 4wheeling.
Is there anything planned for the weekend that's either really scenic (Martinez Canyon or Willow Springs or similar) with decent challenge, or is there anything more...
