My 60 with Sniper does the same thing, causing my idle to momentarily drop below 500rpm and it sounds like it is a fairly common issue (not just on Toyota I-6's). I've found that the lean spike seems to be worse when it is cold outside and the engine is cold. It's in the 30's overnight in NC...
My wheels spun, but there were consistent spots that the drum dragged pretty strongly as it turned, indicating the drums were pretty warped. I had them turned and it actually got worse (shop screwed up), so I ordered new drums and had them turned before installing (better shop this time). That...
Yes, it's a manual box for an early FJ60 (square bolt pattern). Works great, I was using it on my rig while I figured out my power steering.
$350 plus the ride. I think I can ship it for around $50 in the lower 48.

I have medium springs and no winch. The billies with 255/70 valving are a great match. Good control and comfortable on road and easy trails (I don't like body damage).
I've also got an 84 FJ60 and am super interested in this. My cardboard insert is on its last leg...
Excited that you are taking this on. I have been planning on the wits end insert for a couple years, but it kept falling down the priority list.
Hi all, just joined ONSC and am looking forward to meeting some of you at relic run next month. Here's my 60 and my recently restored Sears camping trailer. Should have both at the event. I'm in the Raleigh area, so will make it out to a monthly meeting sometime soon.
