Just threw my name on the wait list. Guess I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed, or continue to make my own plans like I do every summer. lol 🤞🏼
Just got my "new" beadlocks thrown on this weekend.
I'm also playing around with a very cheap ($35) mod for the useless factory clock. It's an OBDII display/reader that I took apart to use the screen and PCB. The tape is there only for proof of concept. lol
I will permanently mount this screen and will extend the ribbon cable in order to...
Played around in the mountains last weekend before the snow started flying. Found an AMAZING spot for the final night of camping. (little late posting pictures)
For those of us that were hacked, have you found out any additional information? I was able to get the name and address of the guy who lives in NJ but made an online purchase at a store in AZ.
If anyone has insight on what I can/should do with this information, please reach out either in this...
Well, it looks like I won't be getting those gears either AND I was hacked from my "attempted" purchase on 7/28. Unreal.
The 15% off "make up call" is a joke as well. Do they think anyone that has gone through this B. S. is going to spend their hard-earned money with them?!?
Interesting. I wonder if there is a pattern there or just coincidence? My order was placed on 7/29, that charge was made on 8/3, and was still pending as of late last night.
I called my CC company (Chase) and they are already on it.
Played around in the mountains this weekend and found the limit of my suspension and clearance for 37's.
I'm going to change out a few components for more compliant flex and more droop. Most likely will go with Dobinsons Flexi coils with longer shocks, some type of front swaybar disco, and a...
Also, well said. It takes practice and hood time for sure but you're always learning and getting better. I also do a lot of woodworking and metal is so much more forgiving.
Thank you for the compliments!
You're correct, it's not difficult once you learn the basics. Understanding voltage/wire speeds, how to correct issues when they come up (porosity for example), and making sure you're getting complete fusion are very important.
Thinking about making an oil filter change from the 90915-YZZD3 to the 15600-41010 while they are still available, but I kinda want to keep this one as a trophy. 😂
After a fun trip to Moab last weekend, it was time for me to change the oil and give everything a once over. Last night while under the 80, I noticed the typical crack around the front panhard/steering mount. I'm running 37s so it's under plenty of stress.
I'm going wheeling again this weekend...
Shoot!
This is pretty much my dream bumper, but I live in Denver. 😭 I'm trying to decide how much it would cost for me to ship/drive down there.
I'm sure this will sell pretty quickly though.
No issues on the dyno at all other than the stock gearing sucks. lol
I installed the TransGo shift kit and set it up for "Truck" but haven't had any issues so far! He ran it all the way to redline without any hesitation or hiccups.
I haven't decided yet if I want to re-gear the t-case first or...
I have a brand new set of standard OEM piston rings and old pistons from my last engine rebuild that I could sell - two of the pistons have some damage to the skirts but the rest are good. I think I also have piston bushings if needed.
You need to look at the stamped piston/block diameter...
I just increased the ride height of my 80 recently and am chasing down a *little* vibration/growling after caster correction. As most have said, it's hard to tell while the suspension is unloaded on a lift, but you will definitely want to extend all of your brake lines if you plan on wheeling it...
I already had a 2" lift on it so I only swapped springs. For caster, I had previously added the @eimkeith RAM mounts - I HIGHLY recommend them. Very well engineered, easy to install, and also moves the axle forward ~1" or so. I will be installing 2.5deg Dobinsons rubber caster bushings later...
I'm not sure about a specific shop in Denver - I remember reading about several local shops that specialize in Toyota/80 Series rebuilds but I can't recall the names offhand. I rebuilt my own engine but had the block decked, bored .020 over, and had the head work done by a local machine shop in...
