I am in Tucson AZ (2389 MSL), and I was hauling my Wife and I up to Sedona (4350 MSL) haha.
I was getting 110psi to 105psi for my compression numbers across the board.
I have not check my rings yet, I need to tear it down the engine a little further to see those but do not want to unless...
When driving it was really slow, only able to get upto speeds around 55 when going up hill.
Also, everything had been rechecked i.e. torque, lash, and the throttle wide open when testing
The cylinder walls were honed and new pistons / rings were installed.
I am almost thinking I may have...
Hello All,
I have been hitting my head against a wall trying to find the reason I have low compression in all my cylinders after a fresh rebuild. after a dry and wet compression test I concluded that it was not the rings. So I thought it was either my valves or it was a timing issue. I ended up...
I am going to start spraying carb cleaner, I will let you know how it goes. And yes I have disconnected all vacuum accessories to try to narrow down the problem.
I didn’t rebuild the engine myself but I had a guy tear it apart bore it out and rebuild it for my. I attached all the auxiliary components like the distributor. Is there a easy check to check the cam gear without tearing into the engine again?

Hey All,
I am trying to get my FJ60 air tight (Proven to be a headache and a half) and think I have finally done it. I hooked up my smoke tester and all seals seem to be doing their jobs. But, when I crank over the engine and get it up to temp, I am only seeing 14 inHG on the intake manifold...
I just took another peek under the cruiser and saw that my manifold temp sensor is non existent. Does any one know what temp that the sensor should ground itself out?
Just to be clear this is the correct way to install the clutch, because the above picture is the exact one that I followed to install the first time. Which clearly shows the nipple pointing to the away from the flywheel
Hey all thanks for the help. I was able to stick my flashlight up in the viewing port and I could barely make out the nipple on the clutch pointing toward the transmission. I guess I know what I’m doing this weekend.
