Builds Recently acquired locked 94 build

I love my “Poverty Pack” ‘94. The cloth seats have held up so well over the trucks 275k miles. It’s genuinely impressive, though I know it’ll be a horrible pain to find this cloth material if the time ever comes to redo the driver seat.

93-94 air flow meter AFM rebuild

I might send mine ('94) his way as well. I've been chasing an intermittent issue for months that I suspect might be tied to the VAFM. If $100 solves the problem, I'll be over the moon.

SOS: Bad O2 Sensor, Engine loosing power, stuttering, nearly stalling?

Thank you!! I’ll be sure to check the knock sensors as well. The EGR shouldn’t be an issue as it’s plugged and bypassed. Thankfully we don’t have emissions for a vehicle this old in Connecticut.

SOS: Bad O2 Sensor, Engine loosing power, stuttering, nearly stalling?

Well, unfortunately that didn’t fix it. Both O2 sensors are unplugged and seemed hopeful for the first 20-25 minutes of my drive home. Stuttering and loss of power issue came back making my 2.5 hour drive home a little harrowing. Pulled off a few miles after damn near stalling but it seems...

SOS: Bad O2 Sensor, Engine loosing power, stuttering, nearly stalling?

I haven’t check that yet, and honestly I wasn’t sure if running with the O2 sensors was kosher. I think ‘94s only have them before the cats if I’m remembering that correctly. I might give that a shot once the truck cools down a bit

SOS: Bad O2 Sensor, Engine loosing power, stuttering, nearly stalling?

Hmm. Possible, though I can feel it flowing out the back of the pipe. Any way to check?

SOS: Bad O2 Sensor, Engine loosing power, stuttering, nearly stalling?

Yes, codes reappear immediately after restarting the truck even after CEL reset. Idles okay but I can feel a slight misfire. Nowhere near as rough as when driving. I’ll check the harness again but I’m pretty sure it’s not making contact

SOS: Bad O2 Sensor, Engine loosing power, stuttering, nearly stalling?

Hi all. I’m on vacation out of town and the old girl is giving me some trouble. The truck is a ‘94. On my way in to Boston I got a code, pulled over and checked the code. It was a 21, so bad O2 sensor. Didn’t think much of it and honestly don’t know if it’s the cause of the real issue. As I was...

A potentially dumb question: Can Oil Weight Effect Idle RPM ?

Thanks all. I felt like they shouldn’t have anything to do with each other but just needed to confirm. Seems to have sorted itself out today, so I have no idea what might’ve caused it. Very possible! I looked it over this morning to check everything was tight. Seemed okay, but I noticed a few...

A potentially dumb question: Can Oil Weight Effect Idle RPM ?

Okay, so I’m ready for y’all to drag me. Flame suit ready. But I changed my oil tonight and now my idle is really now. I was running Rotella 15w40 in my truck with 270k and I meant to get a lighter weight oil for winter in New England. I made a mistake and bought OEM Toyota 5w30 which I normally...

    Poverty Pack

Ned, my truck is the same spec as yours. Perfect, IMO, even with the lack of lockers but I much prefer a cloth interior. Interesting to learn there are 80s running around without sliding windows. I didn't even know that was an option in the states!

The worst type of exhaust leak...

I forgot to take pics when I had the manifold off 😓😓 the gouge isn’t all that deep, but extends from the mating service just past it so air flow through and tick tick tick away. If I have time after undercoating the truck, I’ll sneak it off this weekend and take some pics

The worst type of exhaust leak...

Hi all. I’ve been living with an exhaust leak on my ‘94 for a while and it’s starting to drive me nuts. When the PO did the head gasket, he must’ve struggled to get the exhaust manifold off and left a nice gouge in the mating surface. Obviously the real fix would be to pull the head and weld...

SOLD  Fairfield, CT: 80 Series Brush Guards (front and tail lights)

Hi all. Looking to upgrade to a full bumper so I took my brush guards off today. If anyone wants them, shoot me an offer... Not looking for much for them, more interested in the space they're taking up in my UHaul locker. They were on the truck for a long time (truck currently has 270k) so they...

Wanted 1987 Toyota HJ60 Oil Pan

No luck at cruiserparts.net, unfortunately. Gave them a call and they did search around for me. I'll give Steve a call today once they're open.

Wanted  1987 Toyota HJ60 Oil Pan

Hi all, I posted this in the Diesel & JDM Classified but figured it might get more traction here. I've searched high and low on ye olde internet for an oil pan for a 1987 diesel Land Cruiser and I've up short. The truck is Canadian spec, so I figured I'd call some Canadian Toyota dealerships...

FZJ80 Kickdown Cable has been... Cut??

That was my first reaction as well. The idea of someone cutting something like that is insane... but I've seen crazier. I've asked them to put together an estimate for me, but I'm already getting myself familiar with the process of replacing it in the more-than-likely event I have to tackle it...
