Rare, low mileage gem - Original Tire Identification?

If anyone out there has a museum piece Cruiser, maybe they can round up a set of these OG spares to put on! 😆

Rare, low mileage gem - Original Tire Identification?

Heck yes! Love it! I tend to get really stoked on little details like this. Super cool. Mileage wise, it’s not *super* low, but at 103k, lower than most these days for sure!

Rare, low mileage gem - Original Tire Identification?

Hi all! I recently found a pretty low mileage Cruiser, I believe the spare tire is the actual original tire. The code looks to be 1984, but honestly it’s a bit hard to tell. Anyone out there have reliable information as to which tires would have come from the factory on a 1984FJ 60?

For Sale  Denver - NOS, still-in-the-box, NLA OEM Toyota FJ60 Hood

I recently bought an '84 Cruiser, and the owner had this hood stored up in the rafters of his garage. This brand new, still in the Toyota box, beautiful, no longer available anywhere, impossible-to-find Toyota factory hood. He bought it new from Toyota many years ago, intending to someday put it...

    2 Spark Plugs Fouling Quickly

Seth, thank you for this - learn something new every day. Didn’t know that you could get false readings like that - very much appreciated. Will keep an eye on it and leak down if I get to that point.

    The Colorado '84 Brownie Build

Thanks ya’ll! Much appreciated. Couldn’t be more excited about it. More to come on the build, but for now, a couple photos from driving today and yesterday night. Accidentally captured a lightning bolt taking a pic of the dash!

    The Colorado '84 Brownie Build

Next up were headlights; the old ones technically worked, but not exactly seeing the road at night was a bit of a problem. I wasn't sure which route to go, but took a gamble to see how LEDs would work. Found these guys on Amazon for ~$110, and WOW!!! Seriously couldn't believe the difference...

Need help putting Humpty Dumpty back together again - Denver/Boulder area

Just wanted to follow up on this. That piece goes in the air cleaner assembly! The VCV on the passenger side connected to the nipple that feeds it.

    The Colorado '84 Brownie Build

Thanks @tmxmotorsports! First order of business was a battery and new tires. Battery was dead, tires were old and dry-rotted. Battery - no problem. Ordered an Optima Red Top. Tires? Mudders to the rescue. After reading numerous threads on here about optimal tire size for the OME lift, which...

    The Colorado '84 Brownie Build

Hey ya'll! Thought I'd start a thread on my '84. Heeeeere we go! I bought it a little over two years ago. I'd seen it every day throughout the school year, on the way to drop my boys off at elementary school in the morning. And then, lo and behold, one fateful day there was a for sale sign in...

    2 Spark Plugs Fouling Quickly

Just wanted to update here - I solved the non-idle condition when I happened to read a thread on here about the idle circuit and grounding it to make it work. Turns out when I plugged that connector back in, I did so until it clicked once - on the top side. But didn't click in the bottom side of...

    2 Spark Plugs Fouling Quickly

I can do that, however, before I do, isn't leak-down more commonly to assess where loss of compression is happening (ie intake, exhaust valve seats, rings)? If I have good compression (145psi, at 5k' altitude to boot), would a leak down still be the right call here?

    2 Spark Plugs Fouling Quickly

Good thought so far - do you happen to know what the resistance should be on the plug wires? Here's a wrinkle to add as well - when I got the Cruiser ~750 miles ago, before I'd done any work at all, and pulled the set of plugs, the #2 looked the same but worse - a small mountain of black...

    2 Spark Plugs Fouling Quickly

Seth, thanks for replying! I've actually also recently installed new (OEM Toyota) cap, rotor, wires, and NGK BPR5EY plugs (by memory on the plug # there might be wrong). I also checked the advance (main and sub/HAC) on the dizzy last night, and both main and sub- are working as they should...

    2 Spark Plugs Fouling Quickly

I'm been searching like crazy, but haven't found anything on this to help the issue I've got on my '84. It's the same as the OP, but only on #2 cylinder. Intermittent spark on the gun. Sometimes it's fine, but mostly it's flash-flash-flash-nothing-nothing-flash-flash...and so on with the timing...

Thanks for that, John. Appreciate it. Unless anyone else recognizes it, I'm going to run without. On to the next thing!

Need help putting Humpty Dumpty back together again - Denver/Boulder area

Just wanted to bump this - anyone out there recognize this piece? Can't find it anywhere online or in diagrams. Some sort of small filter? Where does this go?? Thanks in advance...drove the Cruiser slowly down the street to the gas station and back yesterday....ohhhh boy it felt good!!

Need help putting Humpty Dumpty back together again - Denver/Boulder area

Yes! That's totally it! Thank you, John! Anyone else out there recognize the other piece? It's like an inch wide, and could have been on the manifolds, intake, or...goodness knows where. Any ideas?
