I’ve tried it… it’ll have lean. And it’s a real PIA to do.
I took mine to the local muffler shop and had them weld some nuts on the valves. Took the guy 5min and I gave him a $20. Problem fixed! Have had them welded on for 2 years now, no issues having opened and closed several times.
35x12.5 17 Falkens went on about a week back. Installed the Slee KDSS spacer, No more rubbing! Install went quite smooth, didn’t even have to remove the sway bar end links or Jack up the car. Pry bar, impact gun and muscles are your friend.
For the trim piece, make sure that the metal inside the trim is what’s clamping onto the the designated spot. To keep mine from coming up, I put a pea sized dot of super glue. Haven’t had an issue since.
Where is the metal rubbing?
I genuinely love mine. The fit and finish is awesome, fits the body lines well and has treated me well off road. I swapped from an ARB bumper and I can tell a big difference in how the truck performs due to weight (steering is lighter, less movement over bumps).
