    Mud flap....flap

Hey, ya'll know where I can get some mudflaps for 3rd Gen Runner now that I removed the steps? Just kidding. Seriously thinking of getting these as purportedly better process etc. Thoughts, opinions? I'm not affiliated or anything, just desperate...

Attention gasket-masters, lend me your sage wisdom...

Ready, almost, to trade for a Camry..yes I said it, i mean typed it. Thermostat replacement and paper gasket went fine. Got to the thermostat housing-to-block and thought, " i can't take any chances, use the paper gasket and Permatex 90" . Leaked after two runs, which I'm told is classic...

    electrical blues

Fj62, had some battery killing issue, no warning lights, battery new/good and cigarette lighter doesn't work now. Pulled alternator and two diodes and volt reg. were toasted so I will have to get a new one of those. Now looking at fusible link, keeping in mind, I've had this truck for 13 years...

    help diagnose battery killing issue

response to cruiser88 not to keep this thing going cause there are more interesting threads but I like to respond back to folks. I went back and looked at the read-out and I guess the tell tale sign is that under load (heater blower on) with idle up to around 2100rpms, I was reading 6.91A which...

    help diagnose battery killing issue

man, thanks folks! got some homework to do... couple things 1) taking the pos battery cable off while running was done once as a quick (and apparently stupid) test; 2) battery terminals are all clean and tight; 3) volt numbers were from battery by autozone zombie; really went there to use...

    help diagnose battery killing issue

Battery tested good and only year old. Truck runs once cranked but if battery left connected overnight, battery will be nearly dead (now dead) in morning. After running truck for a while, will re-crank on its on. Advance Auto says alternator but can't explain it, just says the machine says...

Pics of 33x10.50's on stock rims and springs

Don't know about the impact on towing but for auto tranny FJ62, you will notice the difference bigtime in the mountains. I live in western NC and went to 33s about a year ago. I would still stick with the 33s if I had it to do over, but don't daily drive the hills and can take my time when I...

    Good choice for trans cooler??

i bought this same cooler and am impressed with how it is built, fits great as far as mounting (I can do pics if you buy it). I have not hooked it up yet but it is all mounted and the plumbing is near hooking up. I was replacing pan gasket and filter first. Anyhow, something to consider on this...

Running into some trouble on front axle rebuild

my suggestion is to..... change to stainless steel brake lines while you are in there, MAF sales those little clips that hold the brake line to that mount that you may have busted and with some patience, they actually fit. Just think while you got the whole craphouse apart, replace what you can...

real time help plz: FJ62 auto trans filter ?

got a cooler i'm going to plumb up front but thought i'd start with new gasket (was leaking) and clean filter. In hindsight, probably could've just done the flush etc. but i'm in here now and have a new filter gasket and pan gasket etc. Plan on cleaning filter, install new gasket, install new...

real time help plz: FJ62 auto trans filter ?

Alright, pan off and going for the smaller filter pan. FSM says to use caution not to drop valve pins etc.....which is spooking me. When I undo the bolts, are shift pins going to rain down or does it just mean not to be clanking around in there after I remove it? thanks

The largest tires for a FJ62

33x10.5 these are great for stock FJ62 and will not rub, BUT, like they said, it is all about where you live or use it. I live in the NC mountains and honestly, I probably should've got the 31s....looks great though, but sssllllloooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

    Newb needs help with wheels/tires

just bought 33X10.5 BFG ATs for 88'FJ62 which would have slightly stronger or less warm leaves but, they first installed 33X12.5 and I drove them home and tested for rubbing before realizing they were 12.5. They did fit and without any rub but went back to 10.5 due simply for safety reasons...
