Beautiful Cruiser. I wish I’d known it was for sale. Nice photos with the Tucson mts in background. I lived there from 1975 - 2002.
I have a 77 FJ40 that I bought in Mesa AZ in 1993.
Hi. I also lived in Tucson for 18 years. I had a desert tan, 1977 FJ40 that looked similar to yours. At least the inside did. The outside looked whiter than the interior. Was it painted or different lighting.
I still have my 77 Cruiser.
Where about in Tucson do you live? I know it well.

Yes. Thanks. I still don’t know what shape it’s in. When I get the rear wheels unfrozen and brakes done, I will check out the engine. I suspect it will turn over, but we shall see.
I need to flush the gas lines and tank. Make sure there’s no rust there. If the engine is in ok shape, then I’ll...
I have a 77 FJ40 that hasn’t been driven (or started), since 2007. I am bringing the little beast back to life.
Converting rear drums to disks (thanks to the help of Steve Cramer aka Posner, and others).
I have a new master cylinder from a 1994 80’s series and a proportioning valve. New brake...
Hi. Do you have the little heater radiator that goes between, and behind the two front seats?
Do you have a hood, or the part that goes between the top and the body? I’m talking about the very top top, not the part that’s removable.
I have a 1977 FJ40 with some rust above the windshield, on the...
Hi. I saw your YouTube video and was impressed with your work. Do you work on FJ40’s? Where are you located?
I have a 1977 FJ40 that’s been sitting and needs work. It has an old Chevy 305 but I really want to put in a Vortec mpi. Can you help with this, even if it’s just information?
Also, I...
Thanks. (Do I refer to you as 1911 or Chupacabra?).
Anyway, I have read the threads and still confused about what exact parts to get. There was so much discussion that I couldn’t tell what the final parts list was. I replied to the main comment, asking for clarification but it’s an old thread...
Hi. I enjoyed reading this thread. I want to upgrade the front discs on my 77 FJ40.
But I’m confused about what I actually need to do and purchase.
Can you walk me through the parts list (and vendors), and tell me anything else I need to know about, like brake lines, master cylinder...
Great info since I’m doing this conversion on my 77 FJ40.
Is this a complete parts list? Brackets from Poser and the rear from Rockauto?
What about master cylinder and proportioning valve?
Thanks.
Paul
Wow. That’s great info. I’ve checked out the TSM website and it looks good. I also like the idea of dual piston 4-Runner calipers on the front. I will try to find the discussions in this forum. But wouldn’t object if you led me to them.
I think I have a semi float rear axel and not a full...
Hi. I have a 1977 FJ40 with 78 power steering. I’m converting the rear drums to disks but have no idea of what kit to use or what else I need to do.
If you can help guide me through the process I’d be grateful.
Also, fronts are discs but I want to redo them too. Should I replace or rebuild the...
True enough and I agree. But I’m still doing the brakes first. I’ll get the engine running somehow, or get one that does.
If I do engine first. I will be frustrated because I can’t drive it.
I DO have plans for a restoration, the extent of which has not been decided.
I’m excited and scared to...
