Mine did the same thing 2 years ago, on a camping trip 8 hrs from home. The noise came on with the a/c but the wobble was there all the time. You are going to have to replace the compressor, and recharge the system.
If you goal is to build a rock crawler mini, save money for the build, and primarily wheel in Moab. I would suggest that you find someone who is going bigger and get their used 3-4 inch Slee, OME, or FOR spring and spend the money on sliders, bumpers, and winch. With 33s and protection you can...
I too am not sure about the plastic. I move my seats in and out all the time, and they are a pain. I do as corsair has said but have found that having the seat bottom at a 45 degree angle to the floor helps me get them in quicker.
Things are good here in Idaho. I have my teaching certificate now and am looking for a job for this fall. I am subbing to pass the time. I don't get out wheeling as much as I would like but this is what the current version of Uglibus looks like, minus the tie rod and relay rod.
They did salt a lot this year. I am glad my mechanicing-style hasn't changed and still provides entertainment for all (except me). I just finished a complete axle service which took me 28 hours over three days. I know I work slow and had to think about the tie rod a bit, but 28 hours cannot...
Anyone have a tip for removing a TRE from relay and tie rod? I soaked them everyday for 2 weeks with loosening goo. I have put the tie rod in a vice and cranked on the TRE with a huge pipe wrench and NOTHING! I cannot get them to budge. TREs and tie rod are factory parts.
Thanks. I bought the winch many years ago. The negative cable looks like a 4 gauge and the positive looks like a 2 gauge. The positive wire rubbed the insulation so I was looking to replace both wires and rerun the wires.
What is the difference between the early 91-92 and 93+ axle to caliper brake lines? I know that I have an early 91 axle with late model calipers and the larger rotors, but need to know what the difference is on the lines. Length? Fittings?
Assuming the fittings are the same, could some one...
I use my 97 as the family hauler and during the school year I fill all the seats bringing the neighborhood kids home from school. Using an 80 like a mini van can be done, but probably not as practical. Here are the down sides I have found. The middle seat in the second row only has a lap belt...
37" tires getting too small....too common. Get on your way to upgrading to 39.5s. Next years 37! With the money you save, you could get the gears to turn these huge beasts or some beadlocks. Or maybe you need a low price spare or two. They are nearly new, without any rock rash. These tires are...
I am selling the shelf I built for my 80 to store the tire below and gear above. This is because the bigger tires won't fit under the shelf. I am located in Boise, ID area and it is not worth it to ship. So pick up only.
Here is the craigs list ad
80 series shelf for sale $50

The symptoms: The AC was piddling out cool air, the sight glass had bubbles in it, and the shop used a sniffer to find the leak at the front of the compressor.
Redirecting my prior question....... Has anyone out there replaced their ac compressor with a remanufactured unit, only to have it start leaking less than a year later? Is this common? Are reman units junk? Will my next unit last pass the 12 month warranty before dying?
Is it true that Toyota only has remanufactured ac compressors? If not could someone give me approximate prices on reman units vs brand new compressors.
That is the ticket! I haven't got around to the 2 battery mod. With the hot temps and the fridge running all night, the added door lights might make it difficult to start in the morning.
Thanks!
I have one of those Cabela tents which you can back the truck into. It is very nice when camping in the buggy Idaho woods and you need something from inside the car. The question is: How do you turn off the safety door lights (bottom of door) when the tailgate is open? Is there an easy way?
