Not super elegant, but works very well. It actually looks like I did 2 wraps, the left side wraps around the base, and 1 side has a bowline knot so there is a loop in the end so that I could get a 2 to 1 pull on it while tightening it. You basically have to tie and try until you get the opening...
I also did not like how violently it opened.
My solution: 550 cord
I tied 550 cord on 1 end, then wrapped around the gas strut about 3-4 times, and tied it tight on the other end with the door about halfway open.
Now I can pop the door handle and let it swing. when it gets half way open the 550...
I'm pretty new to this concept. What knowledge would someone need to be able to get more acceleration or fuel economy out of a GX470? Are there "presets"? What are the dangers of messing with this stuff? Would you be able to do what pedal commanders etc. do?
I would be interested to know about the bottom mounts and hose routing you use as well for the rear hybrid setup. I assume you are using the factory compressor?
Not sure if it helps with all your questions, but it seems like quite a few have put similar kits on the V8 4runners. There are instal l stories, audio clips and other information as well. This was just one of the threads I found...
FYI, the HIDs are plug and play as well. You just have to plug a ballast in and zip tie or double stick tape it somewhere. I thought the same thing, that they required some sort of wiring harness and relays etc. I believe some cars require this, but mine didn't even with 55W lights. I'm sure all...
I installed my HID kit the other day. It is miles beyond the LED low beams I had. They don't instantly turn on like LEDs but much brighter, more even, and better throw.
I'll throw a pic in for fun. Not that headlight pictures are all that useful... The slight glare is visible on mine as well.
I installed some 9600 Lumen Hikari LED low beam bulbs that I bought on sale at amazon for $25 in a Lightning deal. The color was nice and white, but overall I felt like they didnt actually put out much light. Whenever a car would drive by with HIDs or factory LEDs my headlights would disappear...
*SOLVED* I saw over on the 4runner forum someone said that they had to hold down the lock and unlock buttons for less that 1.5 seconds. So I went back and tried it and if I just quickly push both buttons it doesn't fail. The key from 1010keys took a long press, OEM took a short press. 1010 keys...
I bought a spare key from 1010 keys on ebay which has been a pretty poor experience. I followed their instructions on how to register the new key and it did not work. I did some reading and found that their instructions lead you to unregister all your keys! I found the proper instructions and I...
Today I have a totally dead battery. I am attempting to charge it back up (still had plenty of water/electrolyte) not sure if it was from overcharging it and damaging it, or if something is draining it. Any ideas on troubleshooting that? or does it all seem consistent with a bad alternator...
Started the car today and I had my battery light turn on. When I started to give it gas, the speedometer dropped to 0 the AC started blasting, all the dash lights turned on. If I let off the gas, the speedo jumps back up and then the lights turn off. I got a P500 vehicle speed sensor fault code...
I didnt have one, but the tool mentioned above to hold the crank pulley would have saved at least an hour or 2 of trying to scrounge something together to hold it still while I put torqued the bolt back down. (I used a 2x6 with a couple of grade 8 bolts through it that got badly bent, but I was...
I ran some 235/85R16 on my 3rd gen 4runner and I really liked them. way less tendency to hyrdroplane compared to the 265s. Also like mentioned before they kept the weight down a good bit. The only downside I had was cornering stability was a bit more mushy feeling, but its and aspect ratio of 85...
I have a 2007 GX470 with the basic stereo with no screen. I was planning on getting a stereo with a screen to install a reverse camera. My wife has been driving the car more lately, so it was time to install this so she cold have a better idea what is behind her when she backs up. This is all...
It ended up being the rear quarter window belt molding. The push-in tabs and their holes were dripping on top of the subwoofer box. I know it is a bit lame, but until I replace them I think I will let it dry then hit it with silicone sealant and see how that works out.
