Temps for the most part stay around 176F to 185F around town. Highway runs 195F unless I am pulling a long grade in a hot day then they creep up- I slow down when above 215F
Tachometer set up is not too bad. You can either have your ECM flashed to match the input of the tach, I think it might be 2 pulses per revolution but can't remember or you can run a converter like I have from dakota digital.
The app on the old iPhone is from blue driver, it is a bluetooth...
So today I finally got a video of the install, I am still working on a few little issues like it gets a bit warm and the transmission connector to the controller can be flakey but it’s pretty awesome. I get the following questions a lot so I’ll try to answer them.
Mileage - 22 to 28 MPG - 18...
No problem! After one of the updates to firmware the Murphy gauge will now light up with "Wait to Start" when you turn the vehicle on. I don't have the "wait to start" LED or lead activated so I only use the Murphy gauge. Hopefully that answers your question. This issue isn't really related to...
I also bought my transmission from Zero Gravity. They didn't have the kit then but put together everything I would need. I plugged everything in and it worked right out of the box. I was worried about the same thing, would it need to be tuned or maybe a better tune. Now when I bought it I did...
Yes I have found the same thing. Funny enough sometimes I just get in and turn the key and go and it works fine. Just depends on the day! I have noticed if I haven't driven it in a few days it happens more often, like it has some type of volatile memory or something.
Sorry it took so long to get back to you, I just saw this.
So I have about 6000 miles since the conversion. I had significant vibration from the engine and swapped out the engine mounts to the ones offered from AXIS Industries. Huge difference! Now engine vibration is what I would consider...
Nope. No way legally. There are ways to get around it but none are legal. Use a vehicle that is older and does not require smog, use a vehicle that was diesel before, register in a non-smog county - but you can never sell it in California.
I bought these and like them. I just plugged them in, however I think they may have day time running light capability but haven't figured it out yet. There is a wire separate from the light but when you add power it makes the center light strobe red. Cool, but yeah, that will get me in trouble.
Okay, wow its taking longer than I planned. It's fired up and moving under it's own power. Some final wiring left to do and then the A/C needs to be finished up! Hopefully I'll have a video up soon.
Do you have a post on the speedhut gauges? I think I have seen the cluster in a 60 but not a 62.
I would be interested to see pics of the exhaust routing, I haven't done exhaust yet but routing it avoiding the front drive shaft and shackle looks challenging.
I have a couple of questions about your install. Beautiful rig by the way.
Did you keep the stock Tach? Did you use something like the Dakota Digital converter if you did?
I believe the FJ62 has 3 pulses per rotation and the output of the R2.8 is either 12 or 2 now.
Next set of questions :)...
