ATRAC is a brake-based traction control used to control wheel spin when a tire has little to no grip. It showed up, and the rear locker was eliminated.
Finally got the steering rack out! My lower bolt just below the steering shaft u-joint came out east enough, but a couple hours of pulling, hammering, digging farther into the timing belt/ water pump stuff, and I couldn’t get it to release. Re-read the steering rack thread and saw someone had...
I spoke at length to the parts manager about this. He said NOBODY was ready for the response this got, and I told him, well, then maybe if you’d do it more than once every couple years, and PLEASE share this with corporate…they sold more than $1 million in 2.5 weeks in parts. An entire average...
Mine arrived this morning (also 3/23 order). I am away in the mountains of CO, or I’d already be working on it…be aware that even for my smaller order ~$200ish, a signature was still required. Someone’s gotta be home or have trusted neighbors.
My March parts order is finally on it’s way, but too late for the CO trip. The Sienna is taking over. So no off roading:( Guess I can’t complain too much, more interior space and 50% better mileage…if I see a 100 I’ll still wave!
Got my update today from Eric: PayPal has canceled the payment authorization, based on time. Gotta call tomorrow and pay over the phone. Will be shipped by 6/8. We’ll see…
Got a couple more hours in the garage tonight (1st day of summer vacation!). Out came the fan, timing belt covers, steering pump, serpentine, alternator, tensioner, thermostat, various hoses, and radiator. Couldn’t believe how clogged it was! Daunting, but making the steering rack look a LOT easier.
It was tough to steer! I had a post back in late November about it (#31,857). I bought a bottle of fluid, topped it off, drove it home 120 miles and it’s been parked since…been waiting for parts since March. Plus, I live at 6500’, it stays cold here.
I’m still waiting too (3/23 order), nothing too obscure or hard to ship; bushings, thermostat, spark plugs, tie rods. Eric responded right away to my first inquiry on 5/10 (I forgot to add my order #), but has not responded since.
Began the long-dreaded “while I’m in there” big service (just removing stuff so far): steering rack, tie rods, water pump, thermostat, timing belt, fan shroud, and figured out why I was running a bit hot in low range. Also strange that the ps fluid supply hose was completely off… the rack was...
No idea on “book time” but I’ve done a number of those myself. Flushing the AHC was under an hour (first ever try). Diff fluid takes 20 minutes with a little hand pump, per diff, maybe. Heater Ts were a pain, but it’s just access. 20 minutes. Fuel filter was 10 minutes, it’s right there. The CVs...
Installed the OME 863s. Started with the pass. side, it took almost 3 hours (parked it in AHC High, the battery was dead, and the axle wouldn’t articulate enough). After removing the sway bar, and rear shock, and putting the jack in there to drop the axle more, I finally got enough room to pry...
It happened to me in a snow bank, too, and sounded exactly as you described. I went with Nitro Gears and ARB airlocker (since it gave me on board air). I had @cruiseroutfit rebuild the diff. I did everything else. A few tools and one other person when reinstalling (my daughter helped route the...
My parts came, so the dreaded steering rack job is incoming…ordered a water pump and timing belt since it’s been 70k+ miles, and who knows how many years. I figured out my high temps while rock crawling is probably due to 40% of my fan shroud missing. Also the box the rack arrived in was beaten...
