very true, like the flame tip is hotter than the base of the flame.
Guess the ceramic coating piston heads was also a n attempt to dissipate the heat too...but shouldn't be necessary for n/a either
Awesome build, Thank you Ben. It is 2024 end of March. I just sold a sump pan to Ben and he pointed me to his build. What an honour to meet him. Maybe it is presumption for me to speak for him, but he is driving Mario and said he should update what he has done so far when he gets a chance...
probably ok then, lift her front, Loosen it off, full turns left and right, and tighten just enough snug. Check tie rods. Go from there.
I reckon mr toyoda put the air box mouth in the way so it was not so easy to access the adjustment screw. In that era anyway.
It can cause more damage than good tightening the box. One of the dangers of following youtube instructions. Does not tell the full story, well, I have not seen a video yet which does tell the full story. Often wondered if the video makers are steer box repairers drumming up business. If you...
It aint by much these are slightly bent, but I replaced these rear springs for a heavy duty load on my good troopy. I wonder if I should just run with these on my second troopy build although not perfectly straight? The only sign that something was slightly wrong, was the rear wheel bearings...
I have repaired slopped out spring bolt alignment holes in rear axle housing perches by welding cut up saddles with good holes on to the perches in the past. Loose 6mm or so in height but at least the spring bolt was aligned. The purest would probably weld on new perches.
So I wonder if I...
Building a hj75 troopy, very slowly with very little money. The front axle housing balls on the wreck looked exceptionally neglected and abused. So I picked up a used front axle housing on marketplace.
Are the random marks and crevices within the balls part of the casting?
Good call fellas, yep rubber certainly still has a role in this world. Don't see poly tyres yet, they need rubber.
Speaking to a shoe manufacturer the other day, apparently vulcanizing rubber is a real art. Poly would be easier and cheaper to manufacture, my guess.
Ending up going 2016 manual transmission hatch 100k kms.
Going to get one of those obd2 diagnostic toys to plug into the laptop..a new world from the 1988 troopy. Took note, virtually all hatchbacks look the same regardless of manufacturer. Most modern cars all look the same really.
Expensive either way, which do folks prefer and why?
I have polys bushes for my greaseable shackles, happy with them.
If poly, who has had a go at casting themselves from poly casting resin. I saw on Jalopy journal site folks like them hard, like 80-95a shore hardness which is way firmer...

Well, so far looked at the 2016 hatch and the 2018 hatch, manual trans. We both hate autos, and low and behold the corolla autos had a big recall for them. The 2016 has more room in the boot and feels more connected to the driver, the 2018 has even more gizmos. I can't say I really like them...
I use to think the h55f slow eternal change from 2nd to 3rd was due to age on my 1988 hj75 with a 2h, but after driving my mates 1996 hzj75 hz with h55f in pretty good nick I was relieved that it was exactly the same.
The 70 series are meant to be rural workhorses, simple, basic, easy to fix...
Something similar happened to me on my hj75 when I put on new calipers. If the calipers, even when new, have been sitting around on the shelf for awhile, the pistons kind of seize, they need to be flushed with full contraction and full extension. Also, apparently, the fresh internal surfaces...
