Was the rear air suspension on the GX470’s an option or standard equipment?
I ran across a very much stock 2005 GX470 and there’s no air/suspension control panel. Just one of those small pockets. From talking to the owner, they didn’t have any idea. Of course, they’re not the original owners...
I’m not really going to argue this topic. I’ll just leave it at this.
Prior gen F150 had a 7,500lb GVWR (some configurations with HD payload package went to 8k lbs)
Current Gen F150 is right at 7,000lbs
Tundra is 7,200lbs
Same class does NOT mean same GVWR.
Yes, I remember the commercials and pamphlets. But again, it’s more about suspension, braking, and other components other than aluminum panels. This is why F250’s have 3k lb payload.
Agreed, I wouldn’t worry much if you’re not over on a regular / permanent basis.
I don’t think the aluminum body contributes much to the payload. Maybe some. Suspension, brakes, etc play big roles (ie Look at the 3/4 and 1 ton trucks). Riding in my truck vs family/friends’ Tundras, the F150...
The old truck vs SUV debate. So many factors to consider.
For my usage, if it came down to just one, it’d be a truck. For never ending house projects, annual runs to the dump, ski/bike hauling, nasty fishing gear, etc. I’ve got a 2019 F150 which has been an awesome truck with zero issues. I was...
I had a 100 years ago (2000 LC) which was great. Now I’m looking to get back into one.
My usage would be a daily driver 90% of the time (usually 5-6k miles per year). Then family camp trips, which would typically be fine in a stock rig with minor mods like roof rack and rear storage.
But a...
I agree with the tech on sticking with either conventional or synthetic.
I chose synthetic because I can go twice the miles before change (usually 9-10k miles). So in the long run, it costs less. (I also test the oil via Blackstone occasionally. 2UZ is easy on oils).
I use Costco Kirkland...
Quick question: I’m looking at a few 2nd gen’s.
One is a 2008, another 2012 and a 2015.
Of course, the 2008 is cheaper (~$10.9k with 169k miles). The 2012 and 2015 are $17-19k, both with around 130k miles.
Other than the difference in mileage, any reason to go with the newer models? If not...
G20 Gen 4 here, but I had an itch last month and almost picked up a Sig Emperor 45acp. Couldn’t quite “pull the trigger,” as I really want a Colt 1911.
A couple of Sequoia’s I’ve looked at had airbags. I don’t mind them. I had them on my old GX470, which performed well.
But I was always leery of them failing at the worst time. ie Way out in the backcountry.
So I installed some Tiembren bumpstops. Which I hoped would allow me to limp home...
I typically like to stick with OEM. I’m sure bigger aftermarket brands like Powerstop and EBC are fine, though. But avoid something like Autozone or Pepboys pads.
The Platinum is nice but I don’t want 2nd row captains (every one I’ve looked at has them). My wife has that in her vehicle. With 3 kids, I want to get rid of the 3rd row for max cargo capacity.
I’m currently looking for a new vehicle for my family of 5 and a dog. I considered getting another LC, but they’re too small.
I currently have a full-size truck, but it’s a bit too long for some of the spots we like to go to.
Typical usage will be for a weekend camp out with the family. And...
