The 70 series switched to 5 bolts when it's front suspension was changed from leaf springs to coil springs, I've heard that's it's actually stronger than the old 6 bolt ones.
Well, it isn't exactly "new", the 78 has been around for over 10 years, maybe new in South Africa though.
It's pretty cool, lots of cargo space, the only downside (if you can call it that) is that it is too tall and if you want to use it as a daily driver it's a PITA because it doesn't fit in...
For some bizarre reason, the 80 never got the distributorless ignition even though it remained in production up until 2007 and was sold alongside the 70 series that got the 3 coil ignition system in 2002 (in my country, they got it earlier on some other countries).
The axles are very...
Well, mpg isn't an issue for me because gas is cheap as dirt here, my current LC also has the 1fz-fe engine, so I'm familiar with it's gas gulping ways :D .
I would like to get one as new as possible, but I'm also only looking for one owner 80s, mainly because of possible legal issues that a...
If so, why did you do it and do you regret your decision?
I'm asking because I'm considering trading my current '08 FZJ71 for an 80, I've always loved LC wagons and since they are not getting any younger, I believe that now is the time to do it. I'm looking for a well maintained 80 with low...
Interesting post Tucan, thanks for sharing your experiences with us. And your 200 looks awesome, what size tires are you running? any suspension upgrades?
Guess what? they do make bare bones version of the 200 series, manual gear box, snorkel, vinyl floor mats, vinyl seats, troopy style seats in the back, the only thing missing is a solid front axle a bigger engine, but even as it is, it looks like the base version that Toyota should sell wherever...
Hey, I have what might be a very dumb question regarding the PHH, I live a tropical country where the heater would probably never be used, would it still become a problem down the road or is it dependant on how often you use the heater?
Thanks and I apologize in advance  .
I have an INTI rack on my 71, tell what measurements you need and I'll be glad to help you out.
However, as dr_dobro said, they have all the measurements, in my case they just asked me if I wanted 4 or 6 gutter mounts, the length (full or 3/4 I think) and the options, in my case I went with the...
Just so you know, here in Venezuela we had two trim levels for the 80, the high end "VX" and the base "Autana", both were basically the same except for options that the VX came with such as the center console fridge, better seats, digital A/C, etc. they both had the same engine. The VX came with...
Since we're on this subject, does anyone have ARB sliders? the ones that atach to the front of the bumper, if so, can you post detailed pics of the mounting points?(where they meet the chassis) I want a local shop to fabricate a copy for me.
Hmm, but who said that it costs ARB 31$ US to make a snorkel in the first place? you are assuming that they are made out of the same materials, that the build process is the same and that they are subjected to the same level of quality standards, which I seriously doubt.
Also that 30$ price...
This is one of the most entertaining threads I've read on ih8mud, you are a source of inspiration Coen!. I also can relate to your plight since I too live in a south american country and I know how much of a PITA it can be to find parts, specially the not finding everything in one shop problem...
Isn't it dangerous to have the hi-lift mounted on that location? in case of an accident those mounts might break and the jack could get thrown straight against the winshield.
Just a thought, looks good though.
