I am getting tired of the frayed and sticky driver and passenger seatbelts, so was considering sending them off to Safety Restore for a couple of hundred bucks. Is there a better solution that this group had an experience with?
I hear that the frayed seat belts are pretty common.
I am replacing my '97 door with a '94 door after I damaged the '97 door. When I swapped the doors, I discovered the wiring connectors are different:
'94 has 6 positions: and the'97 has 8
I think at this point, I am going to have to put the '97 harness and connector back in the '94 door...
I have just completed switching out my '96 80 DS door with a used '94 DS door. I hade wrecked the previous door when I rolled it on it's side in Borrego. There are two wiring connectors that travel to the DS interior. The larger one matched both doors. Oddly enough the smaller wiring...
I have replaced the original stereo head end with a (gift) Pioneer AVH-2400NEX. I have reviewed the threads here and YouTube and think I want to replace the speakers with OEM Replacement Speakers in the six primary locations with limited changes to the profiles. The head end is installed and...
Over a years ago, I rolled my 1996 FJ80 onto its side and damaged the DS front fender and DS door. I bought used replacements from @Deathvalleypaul and they have been sitting in my garage since then. The work is pretty straight forward - I have all but on bolt out of the fender - but I want...
I know I have seen it here before, but after reading through a ton of posts, I can't find it again.
I have found all of the connectors, but can not figure out how to get to the one behind the light (not the corner). Do I need to remove the headlight to get to that bolt? If you know where the...
IH8MUD has helped me out before with some smaller items, but now I am trying to source some more major body parts. Last week I rolled the LC on the driver side. I have it at the body shop right now, but the last thing I need is shiny new parts. Do you happen to have a driver side fender...

I have run a course and am dying to get answers. I searched our forums and listened to YouTube recordings. If you got this solved you can PM or put it up here.
Background: 1996 FJ80 now at about 190k mi. We are the original owners.
The knock sounds like a playing card in the spokes of a...
I just had my alternator replaced at Yotamasters and they notice a rod knock. An engine rebuild is mandatory, but I may have some time. Has anyone got a good reference for a mechanic to do a full rebuild?
Does anyone have a mechanic they would recommend for an engine rebuild. If I can't solve or reduce the rod knock using higher end lubrication strategies, then a rebuild is on the horizon. I got one price for $3800 from a recommendation in Riverside so far.
I tried searching the forum and found a lot of great information, but something is not connecting for me.
Our FJ80 is under 200k miles, has a fresh battery (less than 2 years) and all new battery cable terminals. The battery reads 12.6v (direct contact voltage meter) when I checked it...
It has been tested and confirmed - The CDL is functional and engaging in L, but the dash lights for it and the ABS do not come on. The front and rear diffs do not engage. Is it possible that the circuit has to complete through the system that lights the dash lamps to be able to engage the...
I have seen lots of cool threads where folks have swapped out elements of other vehicles into their 80. In fact, my air conditioning dryer is a shorter one off of a newer Toyota - works fine and reduces the risk of shearing it off that the factory length had. I am sure I have seen steering...
I don't understand what else I was supposed to have for the installation of this (really cool) Audio / USB charger setup. (1) it doesn't fit in the appropriate spot snugly and (2) I don;t totally know where the red and black (non-audio) wires connect to anything.
At least everything, albeit...
We now have confirmation that there is now power to the CDL. I am in the inland empire in So Cal. Does anyone have a good person to try to run this down for me?
We now have confirmation that the electrical signal to the center differential is not connecting. Does anyone have a good person in the IE that can take it to and have it checked it out and resolved?
So the OME "J" lift, shocks, dampener and caster bushings are all installed. Why might I still ave sloppy steering? I've done all the searching on this forum and others and the elements are all still correct - lift, caster, etc. What am I missing?
