I have a 73 fj-40 with the stock f-engine, minus the smog gear, plus a header, pertronix.
Runs good enough, but considering upgrading to a 32/36 weber carb setup.
Not a daily driver, but a weekend excursion rig and playtoy. Would like to have more power without doing the v-8 swap.
I have...
Looking for a fuel gauge for my 73 FJ-40.
Havent been able to find one at the usual places. Toyota discontinued it.
Production of 3-73.
It has three connecters on the back of the gauge.
E-mail me at videorob@earthlink.net if anyone has one, or knows who might.
Thanks, Rob.
My fuel gauge, or sender is not working proper on my 73-fj-40.
Recently filled the fuel tank, actually overfilled it, thinking it was empty.
Gauge reads only half full. Would this be a problem with the sender, or the gauge itself.
anyone ???
Yhanks, Rob.

It is a device that re-routes your brake lines into a alum cylinder which locks with a key to set your brakes in place. Its not a parking brake, but a seperate non-electrical setup.
The theory is that with the brakes locked...

Having trouble getting my temp gauge to work proper on my 73 fj-40.

Ok .Got everything hooked up and tried it.
No dice. Engine will turn over good, but no spark at plug.
Voltage reads ok, 12.5 volts.
Is there a simple test for the coil to see what voltage it is putting out?
Distributer does have a pertronix module in it, so I will put in the spare stock one and...
I recently installed a set of stainless steel brake lines on my 73 fj-40.When I dropped the engine in, I noticed the brake line rubs on the header. The original line would do the same. There is a plate which bolts onto the frame which covers the line and the connector, but with the header, it will...
I have a stock f engine out of a 73 fj-40 free to a good home.
Now the bad news. It was removed because it had seized from no oil, probably a bad oil pump.It has some obvious bearing related damage. The motor will freely turn over.
I am keeping the carb, distributer, alternator, fan and pully.
I...
