Just picked up my second 80 and realized I never properly registered the first one.
#1. Picked up for $1,500 in poor condition, limped it home, put in the work and and been driving it all over Texas for 5yrs.

Interesting. The greases were the only things I got from the neighborhood parts store. I got the right types but they were definitely generic brand. I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks!
I noticed that too and just assumed the oil and time displaced the grease because I put a ton of the right types of grease
i did it myself carefully following guides here and on YT. I definitely used a ton of multiple different types of grease including on the splines and spindle. But I’ll keep...
They looked good as I recall. But I’ve probably put 15k on them since then. Thank you for confirming that the inner seal is the culprit. Once I get in there I’ll hopefully be able to diagnose the cause.
Does the axle play look normal to you? That and the slight vibration is what has me most...
I rebuilt the front knuckles on my US '92 in January of '22. Cruiser Outfitters rebuild kit and Koyo bearings. My first time with Toyota solid axles. Everything was great until the driver's side started leaking randomly a little over a year later. Now the back of the knuckle is caked in grease...
Read up on tons of threads before jumping into my A/C overhaul. They all reference the Denso compressor as the one to use. But the threads are years old and I can’t find a current vendor for said Denso compressor. Any leads or recommended alternatives?
I spend a lot of time in the backcountry of the Big Bend region in West Texas. Summer temps are brutal and I've enjoyed the peace of mind I've gotten from installing aftermarket temp gauges for my coolant and trans fluid. So much so that I'm going to add an oil temp gauge. Coolant and trans temp...
You'll see that it comes with a little box the controls are built into. I desoldered the controls enough to ditch the box and then installed them into the interior panel.
I found myself wanting a light that could shine down from directly over the tailgate. I'm sensitive to too much light and prefer red to keep my eyes adjusted to the dark. I considered a lot of options that would mount directly to the underside of the lift gate but a) there weren't great options...
Land Cruiser Specialist to the rescue! Got what I needed this morning. Back to the gas station to put I all back together in the dark tonight. Thanks for y’all’s help!
Stranded in Marble Falls. Wheel bearing s*** the bed and generated enough heat to destroy the spindle threads. Desperately need a spindle and the two 54mm nuts that hold the hub on. Bonus points for spindle and/or hub gasket. I can drive a friends car anywhere but need tonight or tomorrow. Been...

I purchased front and rear sway bar extension brackets for my US '92 from Dobinsons. Rear fit great. Front did not. After going back and forth with Dobinson (who were helpful) I ended up just having to return them. They seemed surprised they didn't fit but to my knowledge my mounting brackets...
The line that runs under/beside the battery between the compressor and condenser sprang a leak. Toyota has discontinued the part (8871160140). Anyone got a used one they're relatively sure it intact?
Interesting new development: I was doing a quick oil change and sway bar bracket install yesterday (Dobinsons front brackets don't fit on my US '92 btw) and found that there appears to be an identical part actually attached to the side of the trans just above the dangling part. You can actually...
