I got an 80 (AGAIN) and I love it

Looks like you found the limit of the H151 transmission. How is the rest of the drivetrain holding up? Still has the transfercase? معوض خير

I got an 80 (AGAIN) and I love it

Love the work you're doing, no one does Landcruisers like Qatar. Meanwhile I can't get someone to run a coiled 1FZFE over here. Crankshaft is doing major work at 7000+ RPM. Seems like here is some truth to some saying these are larger 2JZs. Looking forward to seeing vids around the dunes. How...

I got an 80 (AGAIN) and I love it

Thank you for the detailed reply and the tip regarding a higher spring rate in the front. Hope to see more of your projects and perhaps a suspension workshop soon. Wishing you the best

I got an 80 (AGAIN) and I love it

Al salam alaikum, Greetings from Kuwait Beautiful work and that is undoubtedly the best 80 series I have ever seen. Qatar always leads the way with Landcruiser mods, unfortunate in Kuwait no one cares about the 80 series anymore and barely anyone even is willing to work on it. Dont stop Im doing...

Compiled 80 series suspension component spec thread... shocks, coils & more.

Hello everyone, Trying to do something a bit different than most. Asking for advice and contributing a little Car is a GCC FZJ80 spec (dual tanks, spare tire carrier, PTO winch/York OBA) removed the 2nd/3rd row seats so it's lighter than stock which is the main issue. In Kuwait there is no...

    Possible bolt in 140-145a alternator

If its the same part number as in the original post, you can reuse the original pivot bolt which is what I did, works fine and holds the torque spec (cannot remember) The lower ear (for the bolt tension bracket) is not threaded like the original alternator , at least it wasn't for mine. I...

    Possible bolt in 140-145a alternator

Just got this done and only the car running for a minute to test it out. Do you see a drop on the voltage meter with lights and AC on while lowering both front windows? At idle (800ish rpm)? Did not measure with multimeter yet.

    A/C Idle up

Just checked the cable and the insulation is cracked I'll replace and check. I understand it would interfere with the idle but would it also affect AC idle up? Thank you for your reply and thoughts

    A/C Idle up

Hello, Hope all are safe Patient history: FZJ80 that was converted from auto to manual transmission (has a manual transmission ECU). Throttle body is clean with a new gasket. New plugs, fuel filter etc. When the A/C is switched on, it does not idle up and the RPMs drop down to ~600. When the...

    Back in an 80.. GCC 95 FZJ80 FZJ80L-GCPEKV

Nice find! A VXR with barn doors is somewhat uncommon. Don't regret not finding a center console fridge. Pretty much all of them will have non-functional buttons that need work If you'll stick around until the summer you would definitely need to do the fan clutch mod. I'd be more than glad to...

Builds spinning the roulette wheel (twice) on a 1996 Middle East HDJ81 at auction

The UAE is quite well known for RHD->LHD conversions especially with Supras and Skylines But would be the first time I have heard of a Landcruiser conversion. I think they would probably just take the engine and install it in an FZJ80 and be done with it since that is the unique aspect of this...

Early 1FZ Fan Clutch (Black/Blue Hub)

Well then you're more than welcome to come over here and take as many parts as you want. That is before the Saudis finish all the parts! Its a real problem now. They really really love the 80 series. UPDATE Tried the early black/blue hub with 16.5K cSt silicone oil (did NOT modify the opening...

    Grounds/alternator cable upgrade?

Thank you for your reply. I guess I'll buy new ones and leave them as is. The welding cable I'll be using has a NBR jacket.. Most cables I've seen from the USA are EPDM jackets. I only found tinned copper cables in 250 ft rolls and they would not sell by the foot. I'll give the NBR welding...

    Grounds/alternator cable upgrade?

Thank you for the prompt reply. I will read the thread for the relevant info. The kit does seem like nice quality but I have everything available including a hydraulic crimper. I will be using 35mm^2 sq double insulated welding wire which is equivalent to 2 AWG. I also have 2/0 available...

    Grounds/alternator cable upgrade?

Hello, I searched the forum and could not find any detailed write ups about upgrading alternator/ground cables. On some of the cables the sheath is damaged exposing the copper strands. I don't think anyone over here would even attempt to make new cables so I'll have to do it myself. Some of them...

Early 1FZ Fan Clutch (Black/Blue Hub)

Sorry for the double post but I think this information is unique and helpful to those investigating what Toyota did to the fan clutches used for hotter climates. Just opened up the fan clutch that I believe is original to the car It is a blue hub that is exactly the same as the black hub, only...
