Thanks, Pat. The relief valve makes perfect sense given the burps. I did consider a relief valve but didn't find anything online confirming a 4th gen v8 4runner had one so I disregarded it. Looking at it again...
Does anyone know the part number for this relief valve? Or, are they a...
So I'm an idiot and I overcharged the AC system. I was adding Freon unaware that It was overcharging and there were two successive "burps" that came from the compressor area. These burps were short and accompanied by a small cloud of Freon. I hooked up my cheap gauge to the low side and it...
Yeah, that looks very familiar. I must have used a different bolt on the pump because I know they're all there. And I'm not losing/leaking coolant.
Nothing's fallen off yet so IDK where that "extra" bolt goes lol
I installed the Hewitt-Tech bypass kit which prevented the saip from running but I still had the P0418 code. So I installed the PPP (tricks the computer into thinking the saip is fine) and it cleared the 0418 code. I then drove it about 5 miles to get it inspected. The check engine light was...
Not taking it apart again lol.
I double checked all the diagrams in the manual and I know I have everything installed with the correct fasteners. I've done an interior gut just before the engine work and that bolt is in pretty good condition. Only thing that makes sense is that it's...
I got the Aisin kit and it didn't come with new bolts.
I double checked in my mind as I recalled sequentially torquing the five bolts, two studs, and one nut. Then I triple checked by removing the covers so I could verify there are five bolts, two studs, and one nut securing the pump.
It looks like one of those but I don't remember if they had the non threaded tip. Don't think they did. And, I counted all of those very carefully and followed the manual. 5 bolts, 2 studs, 1 nut. I double checked the manual and counted all fasteners when re-installing all parts.
I usually...
Getting everything buttoned up and ready to put the radiator back in but I have one extra bolt. It looks kind of important lol. 12 mm head with a 35mm shank and non threaded tip. It's with the bolts and nuts for the radiator but it's not one of the four bolts that secure the radiator. Anyone...
Every two rotations of the crank lines up the cams, crank, and the crank sprocket notch on the oil pump mark perfectly. The "problem" is with the marks on the timing belt.
I removed/installed the belts with the crank set to the 50* nub which put the cams at the "T". Then I rotated the crank...
