I'll send again. I've never had this problem on mud. Guess it is the same gremlin my carburetor has.
Ebay? I'm thinking you meant i8mud? Ebay is not my friend since they started charging state tax, a man can only take so much.
I just did a vacuum check off of the intake. After a warmup vacuum is between 17.5 and 18.0. I don't know what the factory spec is. Throttle blips and it comes to rest at those numbers when settled. Any thoughts?
Downey, I'll send you a PM. scoutingranch is correct...small s
Yes, the idle solenoid was working on the original carb. Then changed over to the NOS. That one has no solenoid on it. It's just a plain ol' SD40, small window. simple design. No extra nothing on it. I reckon I'll find someone in town or look until I find the right person. It's hard to...
I have had the worst luck with carburetors lately. Two years ago a sold a '73 Bronco with a freshly rebuilt Ford carburetor . The buyer traveled with a trailer a long distance to buy it as I stated over the phone it ran perfect. He gets to the house with cash in hand, we start it up and fuel...
SDwagonguy. Hunting old cars is knowledge obtained thru years of experience and it's easy to get spanked.
Don't be in a hurry, and yes, buy from Western states. Your price points may be a little on the weak side but since folks have lost jobs you may be in a good position. I don't buy any...
One thing I notice. When everyone has tried to "educate" me on the correct color of my seat upholstery as being coral but now looks brown from age I know they are wrong. Here is yet another vehicle with the brown upholstery. I have pictures of other FJ40's with the same color...BROWN, not coral
Lads, I purchased a new distributor cap but didn't install it right away. It has numbers on it but when I follow the 153624 wires to the cap the poor girl just back fires and won't start. The last cap had no numbers...argggg. Can one of you provide just a hand written drawing or picture and...
See if the Vin number on the tag matches the Vin on the frame. Frame Vin is easily seen behind the right front wheel and is facing outward.
The problem with FJ40's is the prices are all over the map. There is one in Imperial Beach in this classified section just listed for an ask of 5K, and...
Silverbakdog,
Far from stock but close. Examples would be color, wheels, carburetor, missing running boards and that's just what I can see.
There are some knowledgeable lads in the Az on these that might chime in.
Put no money it and get it gone. Does the screwdriver in the carburetor come...
Paul,
try the same question on the FJ40 tech section. You may get more answers...or not?
I just finished all four corners on my 67/68 but that doesn't help you much. Yes, overseas shipping is out of control. I've sent off parts to a buddy in Australia and costs are brutal, yet I get my pull...
indian301, put the findings/opinions in a question form and you won't get hammered so much.
Example: Did these come with aluminum tops?, Did these come in a lime green color with white under the fenders? This may help

Well heck, I was down there two days ago visiting my buddy on Elm Ave. Wish I would have known.
Oh' well. Who am I kidding? I still have a '50 Willys to get too.
