Interesting, wonder what changed in 90? No mention of the transfer case in N, just the Transmission? What manual was this mentioned in?
Sorry about 20 questions, I believe you just want to make sure it applies to my rig...
Totally, the wear to the drivetrain will be there, but all the drive train components, from what I understand, are self lubricating, including the T-case. The automatic transmission however needs to be operating so the pump can lubricate the internals of the trans. This is why its a bad idea...
Hi All,
Posted this a while ago, then sold my MH - and never got a good answer anyway. Well we got a new MH and now this question has popped into my head again.
I have experience flat towing automatic Jeeps, just put it in park and transfer case in N. I am assuming that since the KZJ78 has...
Well I was successful in replacing the head on my 1994 KZJ78W with an aftermarket AMC head. She was shooting bubbles into the expansion tank and when you removed the line in the tank, there was white vapor that smelt like diesel. Just wanted to brag and share some pictures ;). Bonus, if...
What are you talking about? AMC heads are from Spain. They build quality aftermarket heads for small diesels. Do a little research and you will see the only ones recommended to be used are Toyota or AMC.
Though supposedly a few name brand distributors are using the Chinese heads, but I...
Well tried bleeding again, overflow was puffing consistently and smeed like exhaust still. Pulled the head, crack confirmed...
Good news is the AMC head from spain should be on my doorstep tomorrow. Once the gaskets get here I can start putting her back together...
I'm pretty sure that white vapor coming out is exhaust :(
If I smell it - it smells just like diesel exhaust...
On a positive note I may have found an importer in the US for AMC heads, more to come!
Any recommendations on how to do this properly?
The other reason I’m leaning toward a head issue is the overflow line from the expansion tank is ran way down near the axle… I suspect it may have been spitting coolant and the prior owner did this so it wouldn’t get all over the engine. Although...
Hey all - getting active again. I sold my last KZJ78 a couple years ago and just picked up a 1994 KZJ78W with about 200KM on the odometer.
To my surprise when I got it fresh from customs it had no coolant, which I thought was weird - and a bad sign. Long story short I fill the radiator and...
Well from what I read 3 can reduce back pressure too much. 2.5 still gives a great boost over stock and clears the frame rail with a little extra space. Bigger air gap helps heat stay away from body.
