    Official For Sale/Trade/WTB/Free Thread

Gentlemen, This fine specimen of a Toyota Long Bed is for sale in my neighborhood. It is a 1979 "pickup", not a Tacoma as you all now. Now... I am said to say that this will not be added to my collection. This has something to do with needs and wants... mostly wants. As a result this...

    Teardrop trailers

Thanks for this post! I have really been entertaining the pros and cons of these trailers. This is some good information. It looks like the prices are going nowhere but up- even on used ones-- no matter the brand.

2021 CLCC Swap Meet & Truck show ... What are You bringing ?

I am going to make it this year. I have a mix of FJ60 and FJ40 parts to bring. I also have a set of new 4Runner wheels that are still for sale.

Pretty quiet in here... what are you working on?

Well, darn it looks like the connector for my carb-fan burned to a crisp. This seems to be common. Fortunately, the weather has been cool so I haven't yet experienced vapor lock. Does anybody know where I can find one of these green connectors or repair it other than temporalily using a crimped...

LOCAL Resources for Service, Parts, Tools, Supplies, Services Etc.

I used the Crutchfield Store in Harrisonburg. They are the same company that sends out the audiophile catalogs and based here in VA. It is a short drive from NOVA. I found it worth it since their technicians are skilled and their work is guaranteed. They will tell you which unit is best for your...

Pretty quiet in here... what are you working on?

Congratulations! Now is the time to start introducing him to ratchets, sockets, screw drivers, and to the big wide-world of LCs.

LOCAL Resources for Service, Parts, Tools, Supplies, Services Etc.

Can anyone recommend a good place for engine repair in NOVA? Specifically, I blew the head gasket on my 1971 FJ40 Type F. I have contacted @OTRAMM but he has a backlog at the moment. I would wait for the backlog to clear but I am growing impatient due to my significant other's many questions...

    Spotted????

Speaking of Old School, I recently obtained a "vintage" Nikon FE film camera and started snapping in black and white film (I am not sure why that is is considered vintage now. It is only 42 years old. Does that make me vintage?). Anyway, I snapped this not too long ago, an FJ 40 in its natural...

    Spotted????

I snapped this while visiting family in the mountains of Arizona. It is a 88 4X4 van. My uncle and friend are restoring it. It drives just like 80's Toyota Pickups, with the 22R.

    Spotted????

I don't know... Part of me wants to like the new Bronco. It is cool, but it does not do what the late 60s-76 Bronco does for me. Old school nastalgia perhaps? The old design has held up well, due to its simple boxy looks. Ford did a good job updating the design for the time, while honoring the...

    Official For Sale/Trade/WTB/Free Thread

I have a new set of 2020 4Runner Rims for sale. I was surprised to discover that they cost more than the TRD rims I replaced them with. They are Toyota part #42611-35-30 and are $425.99 new. I thought, WOW! That is a pricy set of wheels. I did some research and discovered that they are infused...

Pretty quiet in here... what are you working on?

I decided to be different and not look like every other non-TRD Pro 4Runner out there and put on TRD wheels. By the way the original aluminum alloy rims are for sale. I will post them soon on the for sale thread. It went from this: To this: I have to say, I think it is pretty cinnamon...

Intermittent Electrical Issue And Random Sputtering

Gretch, this happened a few times, but it was intermittent. This happened both with the DUI and OEM distributor it replaced. At one point the bucking and sputtering was so bad I had it towed home. The OEM distributor was replaced with the DUI about four years ago, due to a worn cam and being...

    Official For Sale/Trade/WTB/Free Thread

Hi, no I still have it. Admittedly I'm emotionally attached to it. The price I'm asking seem to be a detractor even though similar 60s in worse condition sold for more on Ebay.

Intermittent Electrical Issue And Random Sputtering

Long term update: I hope this helps contribute to the general knowledge of this thread. It's been about three weeks since my last update. After several long term drives It appears that unplugging the emission control computer (ECC) rectified the sputtering. Looking at the wiring diagram it...

Intermittent Electrical Issue And Random Sputtering

Update: Thank you for all of the help. The tachometer was disconnected with no effect on the sputtering. The EGR was bypassed with no effect on the sputtering. The plug wires were checked for resistance and everything was good. After doing a little more research and looking at a wiring diagram...

    Official For Sale/Trade/WTB/Free Thread

I have decided to sell my 1987 FJ60 and wanted to first extend the offer to the club masses who can appreciate it. Many of you may already know my FJ60. It is an all original Arizona cruiser from Tucson. Being from Tucson THERE IS NO RUST, NONE. It is all original (except the DUI distributor...

Intermittent Electrical Issue And Random Sputtering

I am not sure I follow this. Thanks for posting. I checked the "green wire mod" and will try it after disconnecting the tach and EGR bypass. If I am understanding this correctly, the tach may be used with an AC amplifier intalled ( presumably increasing the current)? I did not see anything...

Intermittent Electrical Issue And Random Sputtering

Thank you for the advice. I will disconnect the tachometer wire from the distributor. That is the easiest to diagnose. Dumb question: Is the tach-wire or the gauge grounding out, hence the current drop? Would replacing the tachometer fix the problem too, assuming that is the cause?
