    1968 FJ40 build up

Did I read this right? You've had a major business failure but you're in a position to build a 40? That's a failure I want sometime. Hope all goes well with the build-up.

    My fj 40

Welcome. It won't take you long to realise that some of the guys on here spend mega bucks doing up their 40's. We're lucky, we can pick 'em up pretty cheap, parts are everywhere and there's plenty of mechanics familiar with them. Life's Good! x2 on the search button as some guys on here get a...

    Newbie

Nice purchase. Utah appears to have an active bunch of 40 owners on here. This isn't supprising when considering the trails you have there. Welcome.

    Just bought my 1st fj40

Looks good. I think you did well. Welcome to the dark side and I'm going to be the first to recommend that you flip the bezel (headlight surround). Fat goes on top. There's an excellent thread all about it somewhere on here. Wish i had a winch!

The meaning of "FJ" and "BJ"

Thank you for this post. I always knew FJ40 was the petrol type and BJ40 was the diesel but never knew where the lettering came from. It all makes sense when you explain it that way. I love reading these threads and acually leaning something.

    mothball a fj40

I say give it to a friend while you're away. Your friend will think you're fantastic. Be prepared for the odd scratch or more though and ring your friend often asking about how the rig is being looked after.

Can doors from FJ45's fit onto FJ40's?

Thanks Poser. There's alot of these old farm trucks down here and I like my chances of picking up a set of old doors from one.

    What's wrong with Thornbirds?

I run Cooper Discoverer STT on my truck but I've noticed alot of negative comments about Thornbird tyres in posts. Is that because they are but ugly or is there a lack of performance issue. Not many Thornbird tyres getting around down here in Australia (i don't think). I just 'want in' on the...

Can doors from FJ45's fit onto FJ40's?

Does anyone know if doors from an FJ45 will fit a FJ40 (or in my case BJ40)? They look like they will but I havn't measured one yet. I'm after a couple of old doors that I can cut down. Not my FJ45 (got pic off ebay)
