It's in western Washington but Torfab is the go-to in this region for all things LC. There's also Mule Expedition Outfitters over here that specialize in off road rigs. Steve is the resident LC expert.
Never having done this before, I was inspired by this thread to grease my 100. How do I know if I over greased my slip yoke? And, if so, how do I remove some of the grease?
I did my rear slip yoke first and never saw the driveshaft move, but it got to a point where I couldn't squeeze the grease...
I have the 3 person CVT Mt Rainier with the extended fly so I'm not sure if it's like for like mounting, but the video I watched looked similar. I use an extra long ratcheting combination wrench for mine. I usually open the front doors and perch precariously half inside, half outside while doing...
Same here. I've used them in all my other cars, race and off-road, and was surprised/disappointed to hear they performed so poorly on 100s. I'm hoping these are a success so I can maintain my fanboy status
Most importantly, let us know when you get it back to Seattle. The local clubhouses here are painfully quiet and I miss having a community to drive and wrench with.
I'm a bit research obsessive. I'd scour any car selling format multiple times per day. Craigslist, forums, dealer sites, etc. I happened to find this one on Auto Trader.
I've done it a couple times. I posted a request here in the local clubhouse section. A member checked it out, test drove it...
I was thinking more second amendment activities than smoking activities.
I haven't spent as much time on I-10 west of Fort Stockton to know what to see. I'd say budget a lot for energy drinks. West Texas isn't known for its scenery
Based on your username, it seems you should spend a few more days in Texas. Things are legal there that you get arrested for thinking about in SoCal. Go to a range and rent something with a giggle switch. And get some of that good, good BBQ
Did you have someone local with LC knowledge check it out? I flew to get mine after a local member from here test drove it, took video of potential problems, and had a lengthy conversation with me about what he saw. I also took the pics he took and posted them here to get more feedback
Maybe I'm missing something. He said his dad had a reliable Xterra. The Xterra he can afford is newer than the LC he can afford, with the implication being newer=lower miles and possibly better. While I can understand comparing Xterra to LC reliability presents problems, I'm not seeing where his...
A year and a half ago, I bought my first LC in San Diego for $6k with 190k. Had the seller drop it off at a shop to do the timing belt and heater t's while I flew down from Seattle to pick it up. I drove it back 2k trouble free miles. It's been my daily driver for 20k miles. Only problem I've...
I used a Dremel to cut a notch across the top, then I put the blade of a flathead screwdriver in the notch and hammered on it until it started to turn. Depending on which bolt is stuck, you may have difficulty getting a Dremel on the head. A fellow mud member was generous enough to send me his...
