Has anyone replaced the rear hatch weather strip?

Ok, I replaced the hatch seal 67881-60111, and we've had plenty of rain. The two back corners of the hatch-area carpeting are totally dry now. It was all due to the hatch seal.

Has anyone replaced the rear hatch weather strip?

@Ironsides bumping this thread because I'm curious HOW much rust you had in that spot. I have been leak-testing and I'm 99% sure it's time to replace the main rear hatch seal. When I pulled the old one, there's a spot on each side of the body where it looks like two metal panel layers come...

Fixed the cracked 3rd brake light / water intrusion issue for five bucks.

Ugh, we just had a horrible rain storm and the next day the windows were foggy. I was like "oh no, not this again..." Five years after repairing mine with the GE silicone, it's leaking again. I hunted down my own thread on this, LOL. My original repair lasted this long but finally gave out...

DIY: Worn-out seat arm rests? Just flip them over!

Years later, it's still holding up well. One of the best mods I've ever done haha.

    CV Boots Replaced with directions

Thanks everyone for the help. That job was a nightmare, but after trying a lot of various things, here are my observations regarding replacing the front axles: 1) most of this can be done by one person, but there are some steps that really require two people. 2) I had to remove the tie rod...

Ok folks, I need some help again. What ball joint separator do you use for this car? I have a pickle fork but it's either garbage or I'm doing it wrong. I have tried using the Schwaben ball joint tool (+ air impact wrench) that I bought for my BMW, and it was able to get the UCA ball joints off...

@2001LC you're a sage around here. Thanks everyone for the tips. Guess it comes down to me tomorrow.

@Eyedaho turning the steering didn't even occur to me. Yet another good suggestion. Ordered a 3-piece brass drift/punch set, should be arriving tomorrow. By then I should have the patience to deal with this again haha.

Do you mean the snap ring that goes on the outer part of the axle when it goes through the hub flange, or something else? This is my first axle job so despite being well-versed in other automotive repair, I am a total virgin on this job.

@dirtj00 No, that sounds like good advice, I agree that I've been fighting against the weight of the assemblies, even with a solid floor jack to prop stuff up. I have ball joint tools/air impact wrench. I just didn't want to remove more stuff than I need to. I can take whatever I need off. I...

Thanks. I wondered about the snap ring orientation. Good call.

Thanks. When you use the brass drift, where are you actually hitting the new axle? What lip? Should I hit the axle tip that is protruding from the new flange on the hub or something closer to the axle/diff interface? I tried the former and backed off. I've got this whole damn job in the bag...

Ok, how the heck do you get the new axle into the front differential? I've watched the videos. I don't want to caveman-smash-that-s*** in and ruin the splines or something. During disassembly I was able to yank the old axles out of the diff by heaving on the brake rotor assembly a few times with...

DIY: 2001 LX 470 Apple CarPlay stereo install, Mark Levinson Amp Removal, Speaker Replacement

Sounds right to me, RCA cables and turn on lead (and obviously, the amp will need power and a ground too). You might be able to hijack the original turn on lead, but honestly I'd probably just run a new one along with the RCA cables since you're already there.

    Hood struts options

I forgot about the BOXI brand hood struts I put on my former Volvo a few years back; those were actually quite good. Looks like that brand is still around. I rolled the dice on a pair for the LX 470, $23 shipped on Amazon. I guess we'll see if my recollection is still valid or not. For 9x less...

Fix for ABS, VSC TRAC, VSC OFF, & Brake lights remain on no CEL, or how to repair an ECU

Funny you say that, the first time when I started it up and the lights remained, I thought "let's do a zero point calibration on it", so I went back inside and grabbed my techstream equipment, headed back out, started the car once again and the lights went out.

Fix for ABS, VSC TRAC, VSC OFF, & Brake lights remain on no CEL, or how to repair an ECU

Thanks a million for this thread @FJRyder - I just repaired my ABS module with the 45-cent resonator (and some beer, and a lot of help from a friend who is an electronics wizard). I bought the resonator from Newark that you mentioned on page one. Sure enough, that ONE resonator was completely...

    Hood struts options

Bumping this zombie thread. When I got my LX 470 a few years ago the hood struts needed to be replaced (2018) . I ordered the StrongArm 4361's since they seemed like a good value proposition.Yet after installing them, I always felt like they were weak and too short. I kept them anyway. Fast...

Fair enough, I didn't know. What about toyotapartsdeal? I ordered from them a while back until they screwed something up once, and I ended up going to the local parts desk at that point.
