I heard about another business that several people recommended to me. High Velocity Heads in South Knoxville. They used to do heads for Nascar and drag cars.
I have done several heads at Claxton Automotive Machine Shop in the Powell area near Clinton Hwy. I had done 2 80 series heads. The owner is pretty straight forward, you can give him a call and he will tell you when to bring the head. His name is Burt.

Sorry I missed this message. I have a few pictures of my roll cage mounted. It was installed 5 years ago, these pictures are like 2 years old. I powder coated mine in white but the one I have available is on Black. The fitting is a little tight between the door and dashboard. I could get closer...
Thank you,
I have used them before for parts on my 70 series. They are pretty quick. The only downside that you have to be aware of when buying with them is that sometimes they don't have the part in stock and they don't let you know right away, if you are buying several parts you will realize...
I feel brakes are a constant fight, I change pads twice a year, rear wears out first than front, normally a change front like 1-3 months after a change rear.
Great, I haven't done that but it's good to know about the 10k miles, I take it to Toyota service every 5k miles but change oil every...
Great to have another LJ73 near by, I'm in Knoxville.
How is your driving experience with the 2LT?
Assuming that you change the glowplugs for your starting problems. Sometimes I also use starting fluid spray, when it's too cold, spray a little in the air intake or directly to the turbo.
You...
Especially taking it off-road for many years. I think it's been like a year and half since I wheel it last time. I've been using other cars instead.
Pretty much reliable all the way. I had rebuilt the alternator in two occasions for deep mud puddles lol
That's great, for what I see, this model is pretty much bullet proof, lol. Never seen nobody with engine problems.
There is something else that I forgot to add in the original post.
I replaced the front axle differential seals, first one that went out was the passenger side, then like a year...
After 10 years owning a 5th gen I found a series of OEM parts that commonly fail on several 5th gens. My truck has 225k miles SR5 premium. Some are pretty stupid stuff.
Because I park my truck outside and it is exposed to all weathers, after 6-7 years I replaced all the window weather strips...
Also went to the 8th Annual 70 series meet and greet at Windrock Park in Oliver Springs TN. Only went on Saturday and we did an easy trail with 15 other trucks. There was another 80 series on that group beside this one.
New body mount bushings installed like 2 months ago. I went with the Energy suspension red polyurethane kit. The old ones were shot, some of them were cracked already.
I was thinking that you could do a front end conversion on the GX550 to make it look like a Land Cruiser 250. But the hood and fenders are totally disproportionate in comparison.
Just thinking about a 250 V6 version.
