I have long since sold my G003's, and gone to X3's (General) M/T's.
Run em' smaller and REAL wide (33x12.5 on a 9" 2.5" backspace wheel)
But, wanted to comment that I'd like to know your rain/slick-stuff performance with the KM3's.
Thinking of going back to G003's makes me remember how...
Excellent advice, I'll make sure to use that compressor. Definitely plan to play around with icing/heating on the Gates as needed, and get the 'yota ones to have JuSt InCaSe.

Got a FJ6X box in my garage after putting a FZJ on my truck, and now I've got a little solid axle Toyota pickup that could use a power-steering swap.... as such; I can't vacillate any more on rebuilding...
I ran 35x12.5R17's on FJ Cruiser steelies like @Elbert for some time too.
Used 1.25" Spidertrax spacers. Nearly NO rubbing, unless I REALLY stuffed it.
Had the OME 4" Shackle Inversion lift, as well as REAL stiff springs OME springs under there.
But; for my own mental, I went away from them...

Got this box from my Fj60, and while it is used, it runs great.
Had a minor seep from the input splines (no drips, just dampness), so you could rebuild it if you wanted... but it's no big deal.
Passed my return window for the core charge replacement, so looking for 150$.

Thought you should hear about my process trying to pull this one off for my 85’.
if the steering intermediary shaft (p/n: 45260-60031) isn’t able to slide, or is rusted up, the longer bodied FZJ80 box won’t fit.
im considering buying a new intermediary shaft... since I have 0 play...
Pretty sure your first method should get you in the ballpark... but your static sag will be different with new leafs.
I'd *definitely* go with heavier valving. Made my 'chonk handle so much better. Not Coil-Over better, but much better.
If they're blown, you can eye-to-eye the stroke too...
