    35's Front End Shimmy

Yeah, like CruisinGA posted, SOR sells them. I picked mine up at NAPA. They are run of the mill steel wedges. One thing to note, SOR has pictures that are incorrect. They show isntalling the wedge with the fat side forward, toward the transfer case. The wedge needs to go in with the fat...

    Right signal dead - help

I agree, ground problem. I chased these problems for the first few months then finally broke down and bought new lights. Double then triple check the grounds.

    35's Front End Shimmy

Hey Sambudo, My rig did the exact same thing until last night (I also run 35" tires). Actually my shimmy started when the speedometer read 50, although I was probably doing 60+. I had replaced all of the tie rod ends, rebuilt the knuckles and just got power steering installed. Still did it...

    Moving rear axle

I am going to install a 4" skyjacker lift this weekend and have been racking my mind for anything else I should do or consider doing while I'm in there. One thing I remember someone discussing was either flipping the rear springs or relocating the hangers. I see the benefits, stability, center...

    33's or 35's

I just ordered a 4" skyjacker lift kit. My fenders are cut and there are ~ 2" ext. shackles in the rear. I am now looking at tires. I am debating between 33 or 35 x 12.5" in goodyear mt/r or bfg m/t's. I've read that the 35s will fit, but will they rub? My other concern is the power needed...

    anyone got parts from cruiserparts.net?

I ordered from them this past winter as well. They shipped me a tranny and it was damaged due to poor packaging. They paid for the cost that a machinist charged me to have it fixed.

    skyjacker 4" lift for fj40

I just ordered this kit from the 4wheel parts place mentioned above. I'm not sure if its a gimmick they renew every week, but the free shipping ends today, 6/8.

    painting my 40 series

I just finished my rig two weeks ago. I used a single stage polyurethane. This is supposed to be among the toughest paint that is available. Perfect for an offroad rig. I'm not too sure which is better single or two stage though. I did the entire outside, disassembled (both sides of...

    Bed Coating Question?

For what its worth, I went through this process last summer. I first used por-15 on my entire bed liner. There were spots of rust through out and I was pleased with the results. I did as directions said, and applied a primer while it was still tacky so I could apply over it. I went with the...

Wheels and Tires, what would you do?

I am looking to replace my existing wheel and tire setup on my '76 fj40. I currently run 16" wheels with 265 75R 16 tires. There is an aluminum plate behind my wheels for the correct spacing. I want to go back to a 15" wheel tire combo. I run a stock 6 cyl. I am going to do a soa by the end...

    pilot bearing removal?

Ditto... This method works great. I used the new pilot bearing and ground just enough to get the carriage bolt through. You don't have to shim as much this way.

    International travelall same as Scout?

I ran across an old ('72 or '73ish) International travelall with powersteering. Will this work for a scout power steering conversion? Also, the owner said this was a continental v8 motor with a Ford automatic tranny. He really talked up the motor and tranny like it was the greatest thing...

    help is it a knock!??!?!?!?!?

What are the chances you recently performed a tune-up? I once bought a beater used toyota pickup from a car lot. On the way home it spit a spark plug or it backed out what ever. It scared the living sh*t out of me.

    Winch Suggestions

I am going to be buying a winch for my rig within the next few months. I really don't know much about them. I like the idea of mounting to receiver hitch (can winch from front or rear). I could also use it with my other pickup. I know there are many companies to choose from, Warn is local...

    roaring noise???

I posted the same question a few months back on a different web sight. I pretty much got the same response. I have taken numerous people for rides trying to determine if it is rear end, tcase or tranny noise. Right or wrong I have taken on the mentality that I will drive her till she brakes...

    Problems shifting gears

Thanks guys. I am going to order a new slave and master. Out of curiosity, other than an obvious oil leak, how do you determine if the slave or master is bad. &nbsp:Do you have to have someone pump the clutch and watch the slave?

    Problems shifting gears

I have recently installed a used/tight tranny and transfer case out of a '78 into my '76 fj40. I redid the clutch (plate, pressure plate, etc.) at the same time. The first thing I noticed is that there is much less slop in the shifter compared to my old setup. I am finding that I am having...

Thanks, I bet you're right. My shock bushing were completey worn out before replacing them. I think I first noticed the noise after replacing the shocks.

    Knocking noise when turning

Hi, I have been experiencing problem that is nothing short of annoying. I hear a knocking noise when I turn sharp corners. I can create the noise by driving down the road at slow speeds then turning the sharply to the left then back sharp to the right ect. It will clunk or knock each time I...
