Not sure if anyone has raised this question here before (sorry if this is redundant for anyone) but why are there no Television ad campaigns for the FJ Cruiser?
I like your logic Rum...and of course having the glass half full.
If anyone has any cool stories about getting stuck out there, it would be cool to hear about them - 4wd or 2wd. Thanks y'all!
Cruiserdrew - I appreciate your experienced words of wisdom in the realm of off-roading and will definitely bear them in mind when I get out there. For the most part folks here have been extremely helpful and kind on this forum and I have enjoyed being here. I would like to take your word that...
I must have broke a rule or something somewhere. Right on Poser - thanks for checkin' me. I will try to keep my enthusiasm to a minimum next time I post on a 4x4 enthusiasts website.
It is a pretty nice feeling to own one right now because they are still very fresh. I am just barely starting to see one or two sightings a day. When you roll by someone else that has one, you either get a knowing type of grin or a cool nod in your direction. Toyota did something right with the...
I suspected that this 4x2 FJ of mine could do more than just pavement. Hearing it from other individuals that know from experience is very helpful. Cheers!
Thanks guys...this is stuff a newbie needs to know before "going in". When the time comes I will have some pics & small video clips to post to the forum - hopefully something worth viewing...thanks again.
Ok, I have had my FJC for 2 weeks and here are my thoughts so far:
Likes:
-The feel of the ride in general - smooth, extraordinary steering and turning radius for a vehicle that size. Solid and safe - feels like it can take on any road.
-The body style is phenominal - classic and modern looking...
From reading many informative posts on this forum, I know that there is a piece of equipment called a "Locking Differential" or "Locker" that can be added to a 4x2 vehicle so that I can handle more off road situations. My question is, is there a difference between what I already have on my FJC...
I kinda figured as much. My FJ as a 4x2 could possibly provide me with some kind of light duty off road fun, probably even help me out in a flash flood situation - who knows. I'd still appreciate hearing about any ones' stories or experiences in 4x2 off roading - even if they are bad or boring...
Yo Woody - damn good to know...thanks. having this kind of knowledge is what I must have before I try anything. My first posting to this forum has proven to be very helpful. Much appreciation for you all. If there is anything else that you can think please let me know...I am pretty stoked that I...
Thank you for the clarification and the link. My FJ has the "RR Locking Diff" on the control panel - my understanding is that it is to be used in slippery road conditions. I am not sure how well that would fare out on semi rough trail. I'm sure I will find out. My concern (of course) is not to F...
Beowulf - thank you for the good words. I will most definitley mind all trail etiquettte and customs when I do look into finding my way. I think that the areas that you mentioned will be the extent of my off roading (at least for the time being) I want to enjoy the new shine of this FJ for a...
I just got my FJ last week and I am quickly becoming obsessed by it. This is also my first truck/SUV. I used to only drive cars/sedans and was staunchly opposed to SUVs - I thought that only super pretentious and or mindless people (mostly the OC soccer mom types) drove them. Then the FJ came...
