Panhard bar bolt came out on the highway!

I received the OEM bolt tonight. The dimensions are a bit surprising! The OEM bolt is a hair length than 3 inches long, and takes a 19mm wrench on the head. The body of the bolt has 2 different diameters, however, across 3 sections. The threads and a stepped up region by the head are...

Panhard bar bolt came out on the highway!

The bolt hole is concentric from what I see. I should have the OEM bolt in a week or so, and that will be a better indicator than my eyeballs.

Panhard bar bolt came out on the highway!

Thanks for the insights. I have two OEM bolts, washers and nuts on the way. I was able to torque the temporary bolt to 100 ft lbs while the LC was on the ground… that was not fun.

Panhard bar bolt came out on the highway!

Well, turns out no Toyota dealers have the bolt/nut/washer in stock. Turns out they have so rarely heard of it coming loose or being replaced it’s a special order part. A 9/16th grade 8 bolt fits almost perfectly. Couldn’t find a flanged one so I am using a washer on both ends. Torque...

Panhard bar bolt came out on the highway!

Hmm, good point on the rocking. Also, this isn’t axle side, this is frame side. The axle side is now attached to the dr kdss bracket, and torqued correctly.

Panhard bar bolt came out on the highway!

~4 weeks ago I had our LC lifted by pros with a Kings kit from Filthy motorsports, and had the installer use the Dr KDSS bracket to fix the rear panhard bar angle as part of the install. Spidertrax spacers were installed as well to prevent the front wheels from rubbing. The installer marked...

    Dealer damaged my skid plates

the plates are 4.7mm thick, at the deepest the material lost is around the thickness of a penny, which is 1.5mm. Call the depth 1.25 mm; that’s about a loss of 20%-30% of the thickness of the plate at the attachment point. Smoothing it out would mean expanding the area of thinner depth...

    Dealer damaged my skid plates

These are the bolts in question - this is taken from the BB install video on YouTube. As I've said, given who installed the plates, I highly doubt it was cross threaded. There is more material removed than mere scratches, but will it change how the plates perform? I don't know, and...

    Dealer damaged my skid plates

Well, yes and no on this one. They had worked on the LC one time, and were sorta scapegoated a bit by the dealership with Mr Grindy. I talked to their service manager about it and had them review notes to see if it's possible they dropped the plate. They are a better dealership, but takes 4x...

    Dealer damaged my skid plates

You are correct on the what bolts should be in there and how they install. Bents, dents, dings and wear on the plate would normally be in other areas, and not at the bolt holes. It can be tough in the pics to see, but it's deeper than just cosmetic. Is it deep enough to matter? Maybe, maybe...

    Dealer damaged my skid plates

I’m not going back there again. Called another Toyota dealer in the area, described the problem and they were flabbergasted.

    Dealer damaged my skid plates

I could care less about the appearance - the grinding marks are at least a mm on the driver side and more on the passenger side. I haven’t removed the bolts to see how deep the grinding went. The washer is only touching on a few points due to missing material Grinding or cutoff wheel on the...

Ignore the replacement bolts - they were whatever were laying around the dealers maintenance bay. I have replacements on the way already :(

I've been running an X2 in my taco for 4-5 years, and I've never had an issue. About to drop an X2 in the LC200.

Colorado Passes - LC 200 Stock

Last summer the UTV's were ridiculous on most of the trails but Ophir (due to the trailering issue). I asked some of the locals in Ouray, and they complained about the UTV's ruining the trails by driving too fast. Unfortunately, almost all of the UTV's I saw were going too fast for the trail...
