Ok, so the general read I am getting here is that they do work, but are probably too expensive for what you get.
Good to know, thanks guys!
And RockDoc, did you get a torque converter with that? If you did, I am looking for some clarifications on those. It is a bit fuzzy for me how they work...
so, would a torque converter do some good here or what with these big ol torquey horses?
quoting mudder mmuthart
"With the upgraded torque converter, drive-ability around town is so much improved, I would equate it to a 25HP gain (just a seat of the pants estimate). It really is a night and...
Hi
I recently ran across some posts about the A440F transmission that is in my 91 fj80 and read that some people think that the 3fe fj80s are robbed of their full potential by this A440f transmission.
It seems like people are often wondering what they can do beyond a solid tune up of their...
Hi
I posted a thread a few weeks ago similiar to this and I am looking for a second opinion/hoping to steer the convo in a different direction.
I have a 3fe fj80, and recently replaced the thermo, fan clutch, water pump, and rad. The rad was leaking on the top seam.
Fast forward only one...
Yeah man if you want to post some pics it would be much appreciated. I am really thinkin this is the way to go if one wants a strong radiator in a 3fe fj80.
I found beno’s Post based on what you were saying, and if I am reading it correctly, you can get an OEM Toyota radiator for the diesel...
hey man this sounds like something I am interested in. Care to elaborate on the fitment not being great? did you have to shim it in there or what? and how easy is it to add an external trans coole?
Huh, I just checked out that rock auto link and noticed that the csf 2709 ( the radiator I just used) has instructions to use a “mini 13 psi” cap?
Is that different than the oem cap for the 3fe? Could that be why I am running into problems?
Oh man.. I know Murray does have a lifetime warranty, but I would rather not be replacing it every year.... but maybe that will be true for a csf as well.
I am still hoping someone has another radiator option out there
A weak spot in that radiator, right next to the same weak spot in the last one!
I would love to try a new brand. Murray really sketches me out. Anybody have any luck with spectra?
And as far as this potential cap issue goes, I should be fine just installing a fresh oem cap, right?
Good thinking, I’ll check to it’s mounting and look to see if there is something on the hood hitting it.
But, the silver spot is from where the rad fluid sat overnight from the leak and ate away the paint.. same thing happened to the old radiator but a lot more paint was ate up
Thanks for the insight.
Did I really ruin a radiator just by having my old cap on it for a single day?
To spring a leak in the same spot like that really makes me distrust these CSF radiators, but I couldn’t find any other options. Has anybody recently found any other radiator options for the...
