Here is what I have come up with so far. My scout box will not clear the 26" rad so it has to mount farther back, and my orginal idea of the ford shock tower was no good becasue of the size of the scout box. Looks like the hoop tower will be the solution.
Now I have a big decision to make...
Cutting this shock tower made me cringe, but no other way to get Scout gear box to fit. These towers are stout and other than looking like crap I think it would still be strong enough. I had to cut out large area on upper end and smaller area for the right lower mounting tab hole. I can't...
Not sure I have the typical leaks most folks have written about. Gear oil is leaking through the splines and dripping down the face of the drum. The rig is just sitting there ...and still leaks even in the cold weather. Can't imagine what it would do if the rig were running and the 90 wt oil...
I got a piece of 3/4 " plate to mount scout ps box to frame rail. My question is, should I fab is such that my ford shock tower is also welded to the plate. I wouldn't think that bringing the shock tower out that 3/4" off the frame rail would make much of any difference.Thanks..
I got this old military trailer, but not sure what it is. Not sure if the box has been put on home made frame. Obviously the tongue has been hacked on and modified. Solid axle, no springs. The I.D. tag doesn't give much of a description, made by Dodge. Trailer also has a drop down tail gate.
I will be preparing hard top in the next several months for a new paint job. Is there any secrets to removing the hard top glass with out breaking glass or destroying seals?
Thanks...
Got a parts rig that I had planned to move this past weekend. Had previously removed d.shaft and yoke. Guess I stuck different yoke back on rear diff but never put on spacer and stake nut. began rolling cruiser to and now rear diff binds up.
What likely slipped out of place when I moved...
I had some new flex lines built last week, and I had to turn the T 90 degrees to get them to fit. Line going to caliper has to long of a fitting to come out side as in stock configuration.
A little hard to tell, but does anyone see any thing wrong with having the flex line running to the...
So I called the ford house today, and they told me the f250 shock towers are no longer available. I haven't looked in any of the u-pull its, but I'm sure they must be ready available, just hoping to get new ons as they weren't that expensive.
Anyway, with a SO, is going back with the stock...
Do the pads on these calipers just free float on the hardware pins? (pic #1)
If so, what purpose do the clips on the bottom of pads serve? Looks like they should secure pads to caliper to prevent rattle. (pic #2)
thanks.
I have taken apart the headlamp buckets to clean and paint. Of course they are all rusted up. Are the adjustment screws and nylon inserts available for replacement?
I need to get my brake line ran down the frame rail and axles. Did a mini truck front disk upgrade and rear disk upgrade as well (GM calipers). What is the best route to pursue...
3/16 brake line and use old metric fitting on front calipers and standard fittings on rear?
Also need...
Well last weekend was a big day for me. I finally got my 72/40 to crank the re-built 350 for the first time. It pop right off and got it up to 2000 rpm. Ran good but rich, but I let it go. Change the oil and filter and cranked it again yesterday, to better set timing and adjust carb to...
Gees, after all I have learned about tearing down these old 40's and rebuilding from the frame up, the design and fabrication of a fan shroud is killing me. I have tried several designs and nothing so far has fit right to satisfy me....ended up with shroud to close to fan blades at 3 and 9...
Picked up a new ride a couple of weeks ago, Shadow 750. The only mod by PO was a set of Cobra pipes. Engine pops and backfires quite a bit on deacceleration and engine brake.
I have read some write ups on K&N carb rejetting and such, and may consider in future, but for now would just like...
