If only I could go back in time and forsee all the complications that have come with this 1PZ rebuild… I would have gone the 1HZ route for sure… Unfortunately at this point I’m too deep in it to turn back until I’ve exhausted all my options.
The head for my 1PZ is cracked so I'm in search of a take off head from another engine. I know this is not something many people would have lying around and the 1PZ is rare, so I'd be willing to buy the full engine if necessary for the right price. Anybody have a head or a parts 1PZ that could...
It's been a slow process with the machine shop but they finally finished it up and I went over to take a look and drop off all the parts to my mechanic who will be reassembling it. Certainly looks nice... very clean work. Finally in the home stretch... just needing to get the long block...
Is someone able to confirm where the marks are on the bearing cap that indicate the main journal bore diameters, as shown in the image below from the service manual? I could not find them on the bearing cap but now that I've studied the diagram more I'm thinking that's because I was looking at...

Had to lay out everything I've received so far to take inventory against my parts list. I now have all the parts for the rebuild other than the items that depend...

Also forgot to mention I took the injectors to be re-built and they will be getting new nozzles from Denso. That work is in progress.
This rebuild has been progressing slowly but surely. I decided to go all in on the rebuild and try to replace everything I can and go all OEM. I've worked through sourcing all the parts needed, though some were a challenge.
Dave Stedman was able to translate a reference that he found in...
I sent another e-mail to Engine Australia to see what they can offer. I'm hoping to go OEM to the greatest extent possible however if the cost difference is significant then maybe their kit makes more sense, or a hybrid approach.
I also received quotes back from Dave Stedman today for the parts...
@Onur thanks for clarifying the questions on part numbers. I read the sections of the service manual and it makes sense now for those parts why different thicknesses are available for rebuilds and how that will be determined.
I took your advice and reached out to Dave Stedman. I tend to default...
